You took what I said the wrong way...
One minute people are asking for this person's views because they never stated them, the next moment people are saying that because that person posted something about America that that person must hate it. It's happened times before.
I don't always agree with what this person says either, or what you guys say to that person, it's ridiculous if you ask me. It's like "Rabbit season-Duck season".
I don't really care about his posts, I ignore a lot of the debate ones anyway. Debating the same old thing, is boring anyway! If everyone hates it that much, then don't respond to it. But people always end up responding to it because they LOVE hating on this person.
I'm not quite sure if it's the right words, but there's cultural insensitivity here as well. Morality is so subjective, how can you call someone else wrong based on their values? It entirely depends.

Interesting how any time someone points out your error, it becomes a case of "you took me the wrong way."

Have you ever admitted to being wrong, ever?

Yes I have. What about you?
I just like to look at the other side of things, it's better to not be so one-sided. I can't always agree with the herd, it's boring.

A troll does their trolling in many ways. In this case he does it by posting disgusting comments (raping little girls is ok ect), flooding the forum with threads all about the same thing (I hate the West) and turning other threads round to being about his hatred for the West as well.

It's an empty distinction used to label people someone that thinks differently to them, or just has an opposing opinion.

I wish people would stop using it.

I think the term Troll has become very over used, people tend to use it as an insult if they don't like another persons views. Having said that I think that most forums have trolls, I've only recently started posting more regularly on this forum so I don't know the members very well but on another forum I'm joined which has primarily British members there's this one guy who's American and 99% of his posts are about how great America is and how shit Britain is, that to me, is an example of a troll, I mean If you love America so much and dislike Britain so much, why join a primarily British forum, why not stick to an American one? Answer imo...........TROLL!

I agree that the term gets overused. There are forums dedicated to people who troll for fun though. Another forum I used to be on had problems with a guy who was incredibly dedicated to getting around the multiple bannings he incurred to get back in and keep causing trouble.

The problem is we don't know his views because he won't state them.

Oh I wasn't referring to anyone in particular with that comment, I was talking about on forums in general. But yeah, I think I know who you're talking about and I tend to agree with you.

I'm more interested to hear what the mods think a troll is because as recent events on here have shown, it seems to differ drastically from what most of us think it is.

Well.... I started this thread.... So it's only fair that I give an answer myself.

To me.... a Troll is a person who is hiding behind (in this case) an internet identity..... and spouting (posting) his/her beliefs or opinions in such a manner as to cause a commotion. The more commotion he/she begets..... the bigger his/her ego gets.... thus causing others to spout (post) their own beliefs or opinions further bolstering the Troll's ego or lust for this power over others. The others cannot pull away and continue to 'feed' the Troll.... thus continuing the conflict until something has to give.... or someone has to go.

A Troll's life on a forum can end two ways....

1. Ban him/her

2. Troll realizes his/her behavior is that of a Troll.... and wanting to make amends and actually be a non-Troll like poster..... he/she changes Troll like behavior...... before #1 takes affect.

That's how I view it anyway. :)

Are we able to give a Troll-like member the benefit of a doubt? A chance to redeem him/herself? Even if it's only very slim?

I suppose time will tell in most cases.

A troll is a person who flings personal insults on others...
A troll is one who keeps on saying on a forum what he is told not to say!! (example Meldoror...who called name despite expressly told by the OP not to do so!)
A troll is one who tries to feed words into someone else's mouth.
A troll is one who always keeps on grumbing and grouching!
Finally, a troll is a fisherman who does the trolling.....

Geeze Maz

Thanks for outing yourself

The mods know who a troll is...
Just because you cannot 'digest' public truth you get offended and push me to admit falsehood, how funny!
Only a troll outing himself would do that!

Troll, one more definition::(intr) Homosexual slang to stroll around looking for sexual partners; cruise
Mind it I am straight!!:thumbup
