What do you think of a "Get if Off Your Chest" Section?

Actually, as i see it, this is an open forum..all threads should not be "taboo"...im making a point of...as stated earlier, if you disagree with some1s veiws or beliefs, is it worth having a " stand off" in a thread?...kinda like now?...its pointless..it doesnt make anything better, and it only enforces the fact no1 will agree?

Do you remember when you and Mulder were at each other's throats? Well, fortunately, that thread was not shut down and gave us an opportunity to work out our differences. I didn't agree with you, you didn't agree with me (this was in that curves thread), but the point is we got on really well after that.

Having a strenuous disagreement with a person I find can create a lot of tension and friction between two people, BUT it can also create some mutual respect if handled properly. I just hate to see two people become mortal enemies because they never got the chance to resolve a dispute.

On the other hand, I do see your concern that this could be abused.

For me its no big deal because I don't hold grudges and I can pretty much get along with anyone--I think it more effects those types that hold grudges forever.

can i just quote this "and if they DO get offended, it's their own damn fault for going"....what about the moderators that have to monitor this "space"...extra work, extra stress, extra pointless ness...you have a problem, pm that person...otherwise keep ur opinions to urself.

racism exists.
this is my point. just because we don't allow something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. race is a very touchy subject but i think it's good to BE ABLE to discuss it openly, whether one chooses to or not. like sex-ed. either your kid can go bang and get aids, or you talk to them and they atleast have a chance of not getting aids haha. the rest is up to them.

that's what the section would be, a place for people to say their peace and what others take from it is up to them.

Yes, I do--but that's a fairly unique situation. There was so much sexual attraction there that we could not help but reconcile!!! :cool

if it's a personal issue, discuss it personally but if it's about views and opinions that can be shared and heard, why not?
again. why should we have to keep our opinions to ourselves? a forum isn't for 2 people to discuss. it's for a community to discuss and be connected.

and maybe it could be mod-free unless they are specifically called in to deal with an issue. that would help wedz worry too - if she doesn't want to be subjected to it, she shouldn't have to be. this way, a mod wouldn't have to constantly be in there unless something was directly brought to their attention. that could be possible, whether it works or not is a different story tho.

BTW--has anyone noticed how this thread has gone on for 5 pages now--generally the threads that go on for awhile have EITHER some significant comedy/levity in them or some intense discussion where people are debating. It stimulates the mind. Don't you want to be stimulated, wednesday?

that's not EXACTLY what i meant, but that actually sounds like a good idea- that you need a password to get in. and when you receive a password, you forfeit all rights to bitch and whine if your feelings get hurt! problem solved.

but valentin was banned a couple times, wasnt he? i might be wrong but i don't recall him DIRECTLY calling someone a funking idiot or anything. he would just attack their views and back up his own. that's pretty much what a debate is. if he thinks that way, he thinks that way. ignore him or whatever but no one should have to censor themselves to feel they have somewhere to open up and be heard. he's not MAKING you read his threads. you do it yourself.
