What do you think of a "Get if Off Your Chest" Section?

i would never insult people.. but my humour is different. example - i like dead baby jokes. I've seen people go BALLISTIC over jokes like that. i never would attack anyone, i'm more of a peace keeper so it'd be nice to have a place to share inappropriate jokes and rant and what-not without "offending" people. if you're sensitive you stay out of that area.

or it could be like a vip thing where only certain people are allowed in and if you personally attack someone you get demoted out of that section. there's a HUGE difference between an intense debate and personal attacks.

I like it the way we have it where issues can be PMed and the rest of us are none the wiser. I know personally if I had an issue with a member, I wouldn't want to call them out on the open forum.

forum's need some juicy gossip tho! we all need a little drama...
if all we discussed was flowers and love and how much we loved our children and significant others, it'd be boring.

you can use forums to meet people who share interests, but i like them because of the diversity. I'd love a section which could relate to every day stuff where people could openly discuss things without it being moved to the debate section or banned for using a politically incorrect word. just a place to type what you think without having to worry about reprocussions (minus personal attacks, like i mentioend before) i can disagree with something you think or say, don't mean i don't like you tho. discussions are not debates.

anyways, not everyone is going to agree and when that happens, i want to be there to watch!:ninja

Ok this is why i agree with jersey..becuz im real offended already with someone who would find dead baby jokes funny?:willy_nilly:
But , saying that, i wouldnt be hostile to someone because of it...but its asking for trouble..

Now does Numnums sense of humor offend you, or the jokes themselves offend you? I have a problem with the way that was worded... because you can't be upset with someones point of view or that person just because something differs. Be upset with the offensive material itself.

That's the point though--I am sure there are some people who would find some jokes you make offensive--everyone has their own sensitivities. People tend to think their own points of view are the right points of view. What someone else sees as a "train wreck" can actually be very beneficial and productive. What you need to be careful not to do is sterilize a place by too stringent a standard. It is a "tough" balance I grant you.
 
not at all mulder...i have been well known as a respectful person and consider overs views..peace maker if u like...but telling me or anyone..that laughing at a dead baby is amusing?...isnt wrong, but offensive...and yes it is my view, i woudlnt tolerate it...i woudlnt even read it...so your point again?
 
Can i just point out here..that i was trying to say that the thread was a bad idea, becuz...well i dont need to generalise any more mulder, everyone who has responded to the fact i find something offensive has done nothing but prove my point....we are all individuals, we all have different opinions, we will all never agree...why make a deal out of it?...move on...i dont like it, some do...i find it offensive some dont?...is it worth losing respect over someone for it? NO. end of convo.

there isn't really a dead baby... Schaden freude, black humour, whatever - it's not to everyones taste.
 
there should be a rant and venting area on this site I agree but still offensive material is offensive material....Unless the forum is locked and there is a warning of particular offensive material and anyone on the site can see it.....It should be moderated.....

And the dead baby thing to me......"in my point of view" is simply stupid...
