Well dead baby jokes aren't making fun of dead babies--its just twisted humor--they don't bother me and I am sure you'd find a lot of people they don't bother (mostly the men). They bother you though and I can certainly understand why, but does that mean we don't allow dead baby jokes? You see where this is going? There are people that I guarantee you are offended by the use of the word "cunt" that Peter is so fond of--does that mean we shoudln't allow him to use it?

My point is that what is offensive to you is not necessarily offensive to the next guy/girl and visa versa so we should have a fairly lenient tolerance level to allow as many people to feel as comfortable as possible.

By the way, how do you stop a baby crawling round in circles ?

so the point is.. the people who don't think they would enjoy the section, stay out. the people who want some controversy enter at their own risk.. like bunjee jumping - the option is there, you choose whether or not to do it.

see that's just it. we're not jumping on YOU. we're just defending our point of view, and to do so, we have to point out the faults in your view as well as the positive in our view. we're not pointing out YOUR faults.. just your view's faults. if that makes sense?

Actually, as i see it, this is an open forum..all threads should not be "taboo"...im making a point of...as stated earlier, if you disagree with some1s veiws or beliefs, is it worth having a " stand off" in a thread?...kinda like now?...its pointless..it doesnt make anything better, and it only enforces the fact no1 will agree?

my veiws only have faults in ur eyes...as yours do in mine...and again, the point of my case is as above.
 
no but that's the thing, it's not a stand off. I want to hear your view. that's why we're DISCUSSING it. conversations aren't always going to be people agreeing. so I think Mulder was just suggesting a place for people to discuss things that are outside love and flowers and rainbows... lol (see? that could be construed as rude haha)

but an example would be.. any war that's going on right now. a lot of people are very sensitive, and sometimes rightfully so, but they allow their emotions to get overinvolved instead of being rational. This *new* place would be a place for people who could discuss/argue/debate/share their opinions without getting offended. and if they DO get offended, it's their own damn fault for going!
 
life is more fun when you don't always agree though. that's how you learn. you learn from other people.
religion is perfect. TONS of people adapt a new religion or change a religion once they learn about it. so my point is that people NEED to disagree and disprove things. a special thread/section would be good for that. and for those who wouldn't enjoy it, dont go.

If you don't like cars, don't read the car threads.
 
i understand what ur saying..but you will not change my view in this discussion...and i will not change yours,...so the point of this is?..i completely understand where your coming from, but this isnt a discussion, this is you trying to make me see your point of view..and me trying to make you see mine?...it doesnt work...so at the end of the day..id prefer to walk away thinking, we dont agree, but shes an ok girl..make sense?
 
yes. completely. but I'm saying I'd appreciate a place where people will continue to talk it out instead of just being like this is a no-win situation and walking away. A place that'll encourage people to discuss openly without worrying about offending others - similar to the debate section here but more of a no-holds barred kinda thing. like anything goes style.
