Most of those are terrible :\
I know personally I have had prayers answered.
Religion is faith based, personal achievements and enlightenments as such are damn near impossible to prove. I really dont want to get into my life, my prayers, or anything like that, but Ill give you an example. How do you know it was God's action as opposed to coincidence or luck? I have friends who are convinced if a church full of people pray for something it makes a difference. You know what, for all I can prove, it might make a difference but that does not prove anything. The church goers have faith, not fact.
It's not very analytical to pray, have your wish be realized, then conclude it's was by God's hand. I really like Proof 2, Statistically analyze prayer.

When I was young (7-8 I suppose), I had nightmares on a nightly basis for well over 2-3 months. This wasnt from scary movies or anything in particular, it was just nightmare after nightmare, and my family has a lot of mental issues. So one night, I prayed for the end of those nightmares, and Ive yet to have one since then. Is it possible it was a chemical reaction in my brain? Sure it is, its also possible I just got my confidence up to the point of where it wouldnt bother me.
I also suggest you read more about prayer per religion. It seems like you are uneducated on how prayer is supposed to work for Christians, atleast Catholics. Maybe take the time to read about actual praye ^_^
As for the maority of people praying, its extremely common for people everywhere to look to a higher power for security. Its damn near the same thng as going to your mom when youre scared when you are young, and something frighens you. It offers security and stability.
There's no way you can possibly know if your prayers were answered or not. Most of those are terrible :\

All the historical Gods? I think really that reinforce the idea of there being a god. Almost all religions refer to a great flood of sorts, atleast most abrahamic rels. A lot of tribal religions/Olympian gods were used to explain what they were unable to understand.
There are also explinations to how a good man can own a slavery in The City of God Against The Pagans (SP?), written by Saint Augustine of Hippo. If you can better a man in servitude, and bring him closer to God, then Augustine believes that a Christian man can own slaves. If you do not intend on bettering the soul of your slave, it is not the proper Christian thing to do.
Some of the shit is just ridiculous. The collection plate? The church NEEDS money, it has to pay for the priests, Catholic priests take a vow of poverty, and they make just enough to get by. At the same time, it is also a virtue to display piety. It is a sacrifice. Magic? Miracles? zzzzzz terrible article, if you wanted to make an arguement against the existance of God, atleast take up a more factual approach.
lol of course God is imaginary
These statements contradict one another. So I'm Christian technically
The word fear when referring to the Lord means to 'be in awe of' in most instances. If one believes that the Lord is the creator of all things, why would one that believes not be in fear of and/or in awe of their Creator? It isn't a negative thing; it represents how we have reverence of our Lord.but don't ask me to pray to or fear a higher being... because I think it's bollocks.
Ok, I'm following what you are saying now. Thanks for elaborating. You think they contradict each other. And I can respect that, because Christianity teaches such tolerance.
I use Christianity as a spiritual guide and a moral compass, as evidenced from above. But I do not share your Lord, and I don't think I ever will.
