Et Al has been profiling for decades? now. Obviously it's working for them. No hijackings.

But more so, it seems they employ common sense and critical thinking skills when dealing w/travelers. Too bad we cannot manage the same.

I still think we should all just fly naked. Solves most problems. Except then cavity searches would be the norm, cuz one just never knows what someone is gonna shove up their ass or puss and we must be kept safe.

And I agree with that. We are too reactive and we do stupid things that just make the majority of people "feel" good without solving the problem. We need to accept that nothing will make us 100% safe and we can't just keep adding layer after layer of stupid security checks just to prevent 1 idiot getting through.
We are never 100% safe in anything we do and we shouldn't try to be. There needs to be acceptable risks so we aren't all walking around wrapped in bubble wrap.

High Five for 100% agreement

Actually they have trained professionals that ask every passenger a series of questions and look for anything out of the ordinary. They are trained to read peoples responses to the questions. They can do this because unlike the US, they only have 50,000 passengers a day where we have 2,000,000 a day. That's 40 times the amount... So how is that possible for us in the US?

I do agree with their approach tho. I believe in trained screeners that ask direct questions to judge your reaction.

Hire 40 times as many screeners? And TRAIN them.

You are not going to get the right kind of personnel with the intelligence and ability to screen people effectively for what TSA agents are currently being paid.
Sad but true.

Did anyone see this a while back?

Body Scanner Operator Caught Masturbating at Colorado Airport

DENVER - USA - A full body scanner operator was caught masturbating during a scanning session by airport staff late Tuesday.

Airport officials at Denver International airport were on high alert yesterday when a full body scanner operator was caught masturbating in his booth as a team of High School netball players went through the scanner.

"The young ladies were going through the scanner one by one, and every time one went through, this guys face was getting redder and redder. His hand was moving and then he started sweating. He was then seen doing his 'O' face. That's when the security dragged him out of his booth and cuffed him. He had his pants round his ankles and everybody was really disgusted," Jeb Rather, a passenger on a flight to New York told CBS news.

What's sad but true is that the federal gov't would rather put on a show of security for what TSA agents are currently being paid, rather than doing what works.

These people are only a minor step up from a McDonalds worker

I get the sense they are not trained anyway near as well as border patrol.

Did you all know that if you hire a private plane you don't go through security?

If you are flying out of a larger airport you still must go through security. It's only the small airports that don't have TSA agents that don't have the same security as the larger ones.

But if I hired a private jet to fly me out of JFK airport, I would still need to go through the same TSA screening as someone who is flying on a commercial flight.

Well, if another well-financed terrorist group decide to hijack & fly smaller planes into buildings they'll know how to go about it eh?

I don't have a problem with someone feeling my cock. But I am somewhat embarrassed by how Americans have responded to 9/11. They closed the mall in my back water town that day because "the terrorists are coming!" I say bring 'em on, I'm not about to hide in my closet like a scared child.

Actually it might be enough to just have everyone get their genitals felt before boarding a plane. We could do away with all the scanners, metal detectors and everything else. A terrorist would probably have too much dignity to allow someone to grope them. They'd just figure out another way to kill Americans. Maybe they could blow up their closets.

Yeah, I'm being harsh... I'm just venting.

Regarding the body scanners, it's been reported that a flight attendant was required to remove her prosthetic breast during screening. My Brother's girlfriend's father went through security. He had a heart valve replacement. They made him remove his shirt and show them his scar.

Now take a guess on what is going to happen after terrorist threaten to hide explosives up their body cavities... From a civil rights standpoint I am against racial profiling, but unfortunately this is a good reason to allow responsible profiling based on citizenship. I am aware of no case where a U.S. citizen has tried to take down an airplane in a terrorist act. It is easy for them to tie our security into knots. We just need to come up with an effective way of dealing with it.

Why not just realise that the terrorist threat is practically non-existant? That way, there's no need to violate anyone's rights.
