Agreed,
But we can also look at it this way.....what are the chances of something like this turning into a shooting?...Pretty slim.
So IMO his judgement wasn't really that poor given the odds....it just turned out to be the wrong choice.
I would sure hate to see a law enacted where a neighborhood watchman had to stay in his vehicle rather find out who belongs in the complex and who doesnt![]()
Well, if you know anything about self defense, the biggest mistake he made that day, as far as I can tell, is being in Condition White when he should not have been.
The whole time he had the phone to his ear, I think he was blindly running around like an idiot not paying attention to his surrounding or anything, with the feeling that he was 'safe' with the phone to his ear.
Some may think he was on a 'power trip' because he had a gun on him. We have no proof of that. And I dont see it either. No, I think he was an idiot that found himself in a situation that he should never have been in. <<but that is just my opinion, and not fact.
But.....that doesnt mean what he did was criminal. We do not know, and do not have all the facts. But, if he was attacked at that point....if? He had a right to defend himself.
As far as him getting out of the car. Yes. He was stupid. And I think we all wish he did not. But the question on that point, is him doing something stupid by getting out of the car, armed, and not being more aware of things, and the potential for this to escalate, a criminal action? I dont think it would be under current law. So you can not charge him. Should that be changed? IDK. But I can see that being a huge political mess. That is just my opinion though.
