Torture in American Prisons

This video is a biased video that does not represent all the facts regarding these incidences, the criminals, etc.. it's a Micheal Moore mockumentary.

I live in Phoenix and will continue to vote for Sheriff Arpiao. I'm glad the prisoners complain about being in jail. Because of the work I do in the community I know 'a lot' of people that have been in Sheriff Arpiao jail and none of them were beaten or saw any beatings. Did they hate being in his jail? Yes they did, they said it sucked and that they never want to go back. Good. Maybe because his jail isn't a 'holiday inn' it actually serves as a deterrence as it should.

First off, fuck Arpiao. There are murderers and child rapers that get a good meal at night. You get a DUI and he feeds you rotten meat in the hot tents? Bullshit. Makes you share the same water jug with the masses? Spreading hepatitus like fucking wild fire. Its wrong and should not be tolorated. Second off, if you are a prisoner of war. You should expect torture. Third, if you are a prisoner of war and your country has been sawing the heads off the oposition with a dull fucking knife, you should expect torture. I only wish I could have seen them stomp their bitch spines into dust.

As far as the American Inmates. Yes, I agree they are treated horribly. But I think maybe the severity of the crime should be looked at and scrutinized more, before they practice the punishment. : )

I haven't watched the video yet, but I recognize the name, and have looked into this guy a few times.

He is under such a massive microscope right now. I have zero doubt that if he were to be doing anything illegal or inhumane, he would be shut down in a heartbeat.

I heard him give a speach about a year ago. Everybody was angry because he was making his inmates live without air conditioning. His only response was "We have soldiers overseas who live in far warmer climates who have to wear battle gear all day long. These criminals can survive some discomfort. If they don't like it here, hopefully this will help motivate them to not come back."

....

He had me at hello.

I sit here horified that I am actually currious as to your views on a better system of rehabilitation...

Sooo... What should jail be like?

I too, sit here horrified that I think you would want prisons to be degrading environments. Or am I looking too much into your posts?

Prisons shouldn't have inmates crawling on the ground naked, with guards boots on the backs of their heads when they are cowering in terror. They shouldn't be fed food thats rotted either, which this guy is doing, due to health risks. us because they are a criminal, doesn't mean they are a animal.

I support rehabilitation, and classrooms in prisons so criminals can be reformed and educated by the time they leave.

Repppuh puh puh puh reeeep!

I think there is a big difference between treating them humanly and making them comfortable.

Sanitary conditions should always be a priority if possible. Remember that sanitation is a personal choice though. Some people choose to live in filth. It's sad the State has to be a babysitter.

Do I think it is inhumane to keep a felon locked up without A/C? Dude... That's weak. I think prison should be a place to be avoided at all costs. I don't know the laws, but I'm under the impression that the majority of prisons offer education to their inmates. Not for their good, but for the good of society.

I believe the inmates are living a very expensive lifestyle on money they have not earned. I don't feel they deserve cable TV and gyms, and congical visits. Dude... If you kill somebody, or beat them to an inch of their life for the $5 bucks they have in their pocket, I'm sorry, but you don't pass go. You don't collect $200 dollars, and you sure as hell don't get the equivalent lifestyle of a rich kid being grounded by his parents.

No one is calling for prisons to be like a 4 star hotel. I just don't think its a good idea to make prisons totally uncomfortable. I'm not saying we should pamper, of course not, they are criminals and the need just punishment, but not to the extent of what some of you might want....

That doesn't mean we should throw them into a hole and forget about them.

Why not? The problem with America and crime is that we are too "easy" on criminals. Prison should not be a home away from home, it should in itself be a deterrent to commit any crime.
