I don't think the unmarried woman and child get the same benefits as married single home??
What if he doesn't leave a will???

Well then it depends if he was marred to another woman or not. If he wasn't then I believe the children are the next in line to inherit what he left. At least it's how it's done here.

but it is not uncommon for your men to have a child out of wedlock and marry another woman?? How does it reflect on the poor status of unmarried women and illegitimate children??

Well I'm no expert on civil law. But the father of the child has to pay an amount of money, decided by the court, each month as long as the child is learning or is 25 years old. And it does say more about the status of the father of the child then the mother. It says he is an irresponsible jackass.

As far as I know illegitimate children and unmarried woman have a status second to the single family in matters of inheritance and other things that matter.

Why would a woman call the father of her illegitimate child an irresponsible jackass when she is also the culprit in the act???

Don't you think women should acquire reasonable knowledge of Family Laws before throwing out illegitimate children to the mercy of the man??

Not really, but it probably depends on the country and how it's solved by the government.

If he leaves hid child and doesn't take care of him then he is an immature jackass. Everyone who doesn't take responsibility for their actions is.

I'm not really sure what you mean in this sentence. Wat do you consider by:

throwing out illegitimate children to the mercy of the man??

I thin i was viewing this topic in the light of British Family Law.

but why didn't women check out first for that rogue?? Why didn't she catch him and forced him for 'a gun-point marriage''?? I think your women succumb to lust of men in the hope they would finally marry them but sometimes their dream doesn't come true and they live with the burden of their act?

Just wondering why only the father of the illegitimate be held responsible when both mother and a ''legally stranger' male are equally involved?? Doesn't this go to questioning the 'doctrine' that men and women have ''equal'' rights??

OK can't say I know much about British Law.

Well you can't really force someone to marry you, can you ? If so I would marry Jennifer Aniston a long time ago ; ) You are aware that some woman like sex, right ? So it's not just succumbing to a males lust, woman have their own desires, many of which are of sexual nature.

I never said that the woman isn't responsible. But woman don't walk out on their kids as often as man do. They both should put the children's good before their own, despite the fact they are married or not.

This is the Law we follow in Pakistan?? BTW what does YOUR law say about such matters?

Yeah, but after an illegitimate child has born out of wedlock there have been instances of 'gun-point'' marriages, didn't they?? Would you call it a ''forced'' marriage or a way to 'subdue' the irresponsible and cowardly sire??

But what you say mostly happens in theory. There are cases where both the parents want to do away with the illegitimate child??

I believe the first to inherit is the wife and children (illegitimate or else), so the property is split among them.

Not really. No one forces any one to marry. There is a certain social pressure tho, based on the fact that Poland is a strongly catholic country. On the other hand I think that forcing some people to man up and be responsible would be good on the other what kind of a father would someone like that make ?

But what you say mostly happens in theory. There are cases where both the parents want to do away with the illegitimate child??

Well then either the grandparents take the responsibility or the kids goes to an orphanage and the government takes it upon itself to secure the well being of the child. Unless of course they'll find another family that will take the kid and raise it as it's own.

I don't think it's as simple as that ....but well that's how people enjoy ''Child Benefit'' and leave all odds and sods for the State to bother!

nobody except a few wear Hijab in Karachi....
First of all your assumption is wrong because as reports say Pakistan is the most dangerous country in the world you will not feel comfortable here! Moreover, there is strong hatred created by the US against it and consequently pushed all Americans and its allies into deadly risk.

If you are caught hiding behind a hijab people might take you for a spy and ya know what people do to spies??? Swish and slash!:p

So, I'd be thought of as a spy and killed? That's what I got from your reply, so correct me if I'm wrong.

You're always saying how we misinterpret your country and we'd be treated like lords if we ever visited. But I've noticed you only tell male members on this forum that. What about me? Can I go over there and buy some land? And what if I don't want to get married or have kids. Would those choices be respected?

Basically, would I be free to live?

Sure why would an American woman wear hijab for unless she has some other motives??

The scenario has changed in my country after 9/11...before that you could do whatever you wanted .

Nobody here can force you to marry.....or have children. But mind spouses living together and bearing children is Crime at law in Pakistan. Would you like to violate the law??
Yes, you can buy land in Pakistan, do your own business or anything you want. Foreign investors are granted special privileges on tax, remittances of profits and capital , etc ..Many American and EU chains are operating here successfully.

If you have money you can live like a Baroness in Pakistan!!
Walking around in the city would be dangerous due to ongoing war on terror ....and general consensus strongly against America whom, not only the handful clergy but the entire public sentiment views as aggressor!

Sorry, but this is true and you-both men and women- have shut your door upon you to travel safely to my country!!

It seems a woman might not be safe in your country especially it's own citizens.

Being a child there might not be very safe either especially if your of the female variety.

I don't know why Americans would wear a hijab, seeing as how in my original question I asked what would happen to me if I DID NOT wear one. Not if I did. So let me reask because I think you misread. What would happen to me if I walked around Pakistan uncovered and dressed however I pleased?

I glanced at them all only to make sure I was posting something relevant. I have no interest in having that stuck in my mind and that's exactly what would happen. The unfortunate thing is they've brought that part of their culture, and what a marvelous culture it is, to our part of the planet.

It really annoys me that our media and us call them 'honor killings'.

It is murder. End of story, cold blooded murder.

I really feel that by using the term honor killing we are justifying them in a way.
