Overall the 9mm IMO is a lame round, with that said, it's good with a couple of caveats:

Totally disagree.

I don't see any volunteers waiting to stand out at 15 yards to be shot twice in the chest with my 110 grain hollow points.

They consider it a short shotgun as I recall. Douche bags.

The funny thing is, the Federal government does not consider it a shotgun because it has a rifled barrel, but California does. So according to the feds, you can legally own it in CA, but not according to CA....

Damn states rights.... :24:

I don't see how you can think 110 grains worth of hollow point to the center mass is a "lame" round. Not trying to go after you here but I just don't see your reasoning.

I'm not talking about the 110 grain hollow point specifically man. I just don't care for the 9MM, and I've shot thousands of rounds of 9MM while on active duty. I prefer something with a little more guaranteed stopping power if I'm relying on it for defense, and while a 110 grain JHP is nice, I'd still prefer a larger caliber.

The reason I'm planning on going 9mm is because it's the caliber that I'm the most familiar with... and since this will be my first firearm purchase, it makes sense to go with what's the most familiar. Especially since what Joe said is very true... the best home defense weapon is the one that you're most comfortable with. I've fired 9mm, .40, .357, and .22 in the past. Of those, .357 was my least favorite... but that could've been because it was the first gun I fired, I was 15, and my friends didn't warn me about the kickback. :24:

My other planned purchase is this:

Mossberg 500 Persuader ZMB

Yes, to kill zombies with. :D

The key IMO is ensuring that you differentiate between fact and opinion, which you did very nicely there:D

For myself, I'd prefer not to be shot at with ANY caliber.

I just wish when people make anti gun comments like the the one you posted, it would at least be accurate.

As I've said before in the past, the biggest problem I have with people who make anti gun comments is they have a clue what they are talking about.

That said, perhaps you didn't mean the pic to be "anti", but anyone with any common gun sense would realize that is not a .88 magnum in the pic (and honestly, I don't even know if that caliber exists).

It's for killing zombies... you have to keep your location hidden damnit!

And I can't help but think that when people who don't care or don't like guns hear gun owners talking about "zombies", they think (and have good reason to IMO) to think that gun owners are idiots.

A lever gun with a rail system, collapsible stock and flash suppressor? That's would fit the bill just like the guys with the 10/22's all dressed with the 50 round mags blasting away.

I also realize the above is only my opinion, but it seems nowadays just dress everything up in black and make it "tacticcool" and it sells off the shelf. That lever gun is a prime example. My only hope is that Mossberg is playing a prank.

I think all ya'll are kind of silly in this gun discussion. To prove which gun will kill you the deadest, I'll shoot anyone of you with my Ruger MK2 .22LR and ya'll can shoot me with whatever you want. I get the first shot. Any takers?

Hey Joe - these made me think of you:

Hey Joe - these made me think of you:

Put us at 500 yards apart and I'll take you up on your bet, I'll even pay for your airfare here and let you use my MarkIII if you'd like LOL Person not in the hospital afterwards wins some cash to boot.

Why did the .45 pics make you think of me?:confused

Please read the last sentence in post #170

I don't like guns, but an imminent zombie outbreak is the only reason I'd at least learn which way round to hold one :ninja
