I watched the old Batman cartoons. I've never read a Batman comic and don't really like most of the films.

I'm much more of a Marvel girl. I watched the cartoons, films, read some comics and had indepth discussions about it with a friend.

Nope. Not Ra's. There's only been one character to injure Batman so badly he was out of commission for some time. He nearly broke the Batman in half. It only happened in the comics. He was in one of the movies, but wasn't really portrayed true to his character in the comics, or anywhere close.
