Then its god's fault for leaving it up to an imperfect creature to intemperate a perfect thing.
Of course, God forbid we have to humble ourselves and admit we are wrong about anything ... it just might make us .... BETTER PEOPLE! Imagine!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GP:
He is perfect. His word is perfect and just as He intended it to be. Those who read it and interpret it are imperfect.
Spot on bud. Praise God for the Holy Spirit.

You have a perfect god, who's task is to draw people to his truth,

He wants to save people from evil and sin

agree so far? Ok cool

So, it would be a good idea to maybe give us instruction on how to live full and faithful lives, right? Right.

His instructions on how to live a life that he deems to be good is CRITICAL AND VERY IMPORTANT, since you risk being cast out of his presence FOR ETERNITY (no going back folks, sorry) and suffer in hell if you do not follow his plan. This stuff is important! He must get his word to people so they can follow it and be saved!

Ok, so we have a perfect god who wants to help save us, and he's going to give us instructions on how to love him, be pious, faithful, and good people. So whats the next logical step this perfect god makes?

He entrusts his perfect word to imperfect, greedy, lustful, hateful, racist, misogynistic people who by their very nature are TERRIBLE at communication.

Can you see where I'm going with this? This is like entrusting your only child to a pedophile as a babysitter.

It is god's fault for the misinterpretation of his teachings.

You are really missing the "MESSAGE" of God's Word if this is what you think.

You are not saved through following the law or following God's Word that man has twisted. Yes there are truths, yes obedience is an outwardly way to show that you love the Lord, yes, yes, yes, yes ...

But you are not saved by anything you DO ... you are saved by grace and grace alone. There is nothing you can DO to save yourself.

People are so focused on the can and can nots that they are not focused on God and on relationship .... focusing on the can and can nots and turning the law into what they idolized instead of God and relation is man's warped thinking and exactly what Christ came to help man to see the error of their perspective ... to see where they were warping God's way/character/essence/Word.

I mean no offense by this ... but we have many ex-Catholics at our church who once sounded like you in many aspects.

Grace and GP, you can say whatever you wish from now to kingdom come and it would make no difference to the doubting Thomases. I kid you not. They will see and believe (or not) whatever they wish to.

Got time?

Just to through in my two cents, one of the few things from the Bible that influenced me is the notion of "loving thy neighbor."

I think alot of stuff in the Bible is kind of nonsense, but my favorite one is that Jesus walked on water. Come on now we all know that is impossible. Humans are more dense than water.

But I do think there is some good that comes out of the Bible, mostly the loving nature of Jesus' sermons imo.

Ok, lets talk about Grace. How odes one obtain enough Grace to be saved?

Oh and my point still stands that its god's fault for entrusting us with something he KNEW we would fuck up.

How do you obtain grace? YOU don't do anything to obtain grace.

You want to blame God for entrusting us with free will knowing we'd screw things up? Ok fine. Personally, I rather like what He has entrusted me with; it makes each lesson and discovery in my life that much more meaningful to me.

Then how do people have it? Are people predestined with grace?

You're misunderstanding what I'm saying god is responsible for.

this is very true. But you never know when you may crack the shell.

One more cast as fishers of men can make all the difference. :D

I say you be right, but with the correctly placed gentlest of taps, even the hardest nut could crack open and reveal a soft inner core...
