I thought I'd take a crack at writing the Ten Commandments just for fun. Take a look below. Do you think I would make a good Moses? :)

Moses: 1) You shall have no other gods before me.
Mine: 1) Freedom of religion is important. Do not punish anyone solely on the basis of religion.

Moses: 2) You shall not make for yourself a carved image.
Mine: 2) Art is great! Do not punish anyone because of their love for art.

Moses: 3) You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
Mine: 3) What you say is more important than how you say it. The meaning of your words should show kindness to one another.

Moses: 4) Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Mine: 4) All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Do not overwork your employees.

Moses: 5) Honor your father and your mother.
Mine: 5) Return kindness with kindness. Respect your friends and family.

Moses: 6) Thou shall not murder.
Mine: 6) Do not murder.

Moses: 7) Thou shall not commit adultery.
Mine: 7) Do not cheat.

Moses: 8) Thou shall not steal.
Mine: 8) Do not steal.

Moses: 9) You shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor.
Mine: 9) Do not tell lies that hurt others.

Moses: 10) You shall not covet your neighbor's possessions.
Mine: 10) Work hard to earn the things you want. Dare to dream big!

Of course, we need more than ten commandments but this is a start.

If your intentions were to merely modernize Moses' version of the Ten Commandments....then you done good doll!! (accept for the first one which I don't agree with but I won't say anything because it'll only cause others to come in and argue that there is no God and to be honest with you I am not in the mood)..lol

As Sadie said... "you done good!" :D

Except for #7. LOL Adultery is the breaking of a covenant, which translated, means "a promise"... so, it covers more than cheating. :p

You don't believe in freedom of religion? Surely you don't think it is right to force everyone to be a Christian. All I'm saying in the first commandment is everyone should be allowed to choose the religion they want. Or to choose no religion if they want.

Good point. There should be something in there about keeping your word.

To be a true believer in God is to believe only in Him...to say otherwise would make me a hypocrite.

It's fine for you to believe only in God. I'm just saying you shouldn't punish people for not believing in God. Christians used to burn people at the stake for not believing. You don't want to go back to that, do you?

Notice I didn't say you must believe in more than one God. Only that Christians shouldn't punish those who do. And, I hasten to add, I'm not trying to bash Christians here. I actually thought everyone would agree with me on that.

Just wow! You dont think people should be able to chose their religion and should be punished if they do? And then you wonder why people hate religion? It's people like you who give Christianity a bad name.

Isn't God just the same God in every other religion, just a different name? I'm pretty sure that's what my religion teacher taught me at school (a Catholic school too may I add). I hate religions who are pragmatic. They can go and have a good hard shit lol.

Yes I can read fine but its only to be expected that someone like you would resort to childish insults. In one post you said you disagreed with freedom of religion and then in another you changed your mind. So which do you believe?

What I said was that my belief in God means that I'm loyal to Him....and I'd be a hypocrite to say othewise.

Someone like me?

Peter, it is not that we should hate ''freedom of religion'', rather it is the abuse and misuse of this 'freedom'
at one's whims. It also doesn't matter if one doesn't believe in God but he doesn't have the right or freedom to
malign those that do!!

I believe in God..One God and as a Muslim I repeat this ' pronouncement', like any other Muslim, five times a day or more!!

THERE IS NO GOD BUT GOD!!:)

So, when I say this I am bound to bear total allegiance to Him!:)
