Nothing of the sort, my point would have been made regardless and it clearly says "newbie" under his name. If you are going to accuse someone of making shallow arguments, your arguments better have some meat behind them and not just name calling. Regarding sarcasm in text chat, it can be intended but unless you know someone, you have to go out of your way to make it apparent. There are a variety of ways to do this including sarcasm icons.

If you posted a statement "Ron Paul is a good guy" then posted a link in support of that and I came back and called you a liar, period- Would you say I was being sarcastic? How would you know if I was being sarcastic or just calling you a liar?

Please tell me how you don't get sarcasm out of this statement...

It's total and complete over the top sarcasm. Yes, there is a period after "You LIE", but it's very obvious to all but those who are looking for a reason to be offended, that the following sentence is a part of it as well.

And I'll explain this so maybe YOU can understand. THE ENTIRE STATEMENT was sarcasm pointing out the fact that of course our wonderful media is going to point out his left wing legislative "accomplishments" that institutionally they happen to agree with, while ignoring the fact that he was a murderer. Like I said, whitewashing like they've done every single time one of the Kennedy's has bitten the dust.

The presence of a fairly goofy obviously ridiculous statment afterwards is typically a pretty BIG clue to the intent. Perhaps in the future, reading past the first two words of a statement would be a good idea...

You would have a point if all that was said was, "You LIE", or some derivative thereof. Nova was quoting your list of links.... so how exactly would he be calling you a liar about what you linked? Now you're comparing apples and oranges, and attempting to make brilliant use of a straw man.

"You LIE" is in no way, shape, or form a directed insult, without anything else in the statement, it would be a personal opinion about something that was said. However, "You're a shit-bag" (and I'm going to go ahead and assume that you meant "you're" and not "your", apparently basic grammar escapes you when you're upset) is a directed attack towards another individual. Even without context, a simpleton could see the difference between the two statements. With context, I would hope that everyone here could see the blatant difference between saying "You LIE" and calling someone a "shit-bag".

It's not flawed, and your perspective is not obvious at all. Every party involved has made an assumption. Even when you consider the second part of the statement, it was an attack on the media. But you are saying because it was a sarcastic attack, I should infer that the first part was just kidding? And btw, Nova is the one who first made accusations of being attacked. Go check. I just asked if he was an idiot. That is not a statement of fact but a question.

But wait, I may be able to clear this up, then again maybe not... What do you call someone who tells lies? I'd call them a liar. A liar is someone who tells falsehoods, knowing they are not true.

However,in this case if the term "you LIE" is being used as an exclamation that means nothing more than "I disagree!" or "this is not true" then I would not really have asked the idiot question and we would not have wasted so much of this thread's space.
