He was a womanizing drunk who left a woman to die. Then used his family influence to get what was not even a slap on the wrist.

Yes I would say that is pretty unforgivable. People like that should not be rewarded with a lifetime position in the senate.
Just playing devil's advocate for a sec...Even if he wasn't drunk at the time, and even if he was just innocently giving her a ride home, he still LEFT A WOMAN TO DIE! And even if it wasn't in his power to save her, he DIDN'T EVEN CALL THE POLICE! The diver who recovered the body said she was positioned where an air bubble would have been, and that if the police had been called immediately there was a good chance she could've been saved.

Instead Teddy went home and went to sleep.

seems to me that what ever this guy did with the rest of life it would have made no differnce, the death of Mary Jo Kopeckny isi for most of you unforegivable

I have serious issues with the rest of his "accomplishments" as well but really, its nothing but pure evil that will cause a man to purposefully leave someone to drown, passing up no less than 5 opportunities to call for help as he walked back to a party and on top of that, to not even call the police until a third party had managed to find the car and the body over 12 hours later.

The man should have been in prison, not sitting in the US Senate. Murder is far to criminal even to fit in with the rest of the crooks on Capitol Hill....

I am well aware of all the events. I was in my middle teens at the time.

If you want a good conspiracy then I got one that will have the liberals howling. "He wanted her to die" ;)

I think she was going to become a problem for him. Which he could not have any part of. Keep in mind those were different times. A married high profile politician caught with another woman did not sit well with people and there usually were consequences.

I know, I was just using your post to show that even in the absolutely best of circumstances, he's a dumbass and responsible for killing an innocent woman

I have not shed a tear over his passing. He is a prime example of what is wrong with politics & political power in America. He was a murderer, an adulterer & a drunk.

I was wondering how many replies I'd have to scan down through to see this. Very predictable considering the source.

To be fair, I'm curious if you include any "conservatives" with this sentiment?

Kennedy Legislative Legacy Will Be Hard To Replicate in Senate- Bloomberg.com. I don't think you'll find anyone who worked harder for the working class in this country.

Kennedy Legislative Achievements- ABC News. Look down the list. You won't see any conservatives championing this kind of an agenda. The Chappaquiddick incident was a major failing no doubt, but he did other things to help make up for it.

My sentiments have basically nothing to do with politics and everything to do with the fact that he was a murderer and got away with it, basically because of his last name. He was a disgusting excuse for a human being, and I'll shed no tears over his passing.

I'm not surprised to see the murderer being defended by our wonderful socialists here though.

If the neutral judgement was based only on Kennedy wrecking his car and then trying to squirm out of it that would be one thing, but the political undercurrents of "judgement" run strong around here. Consider for example, take someone whose actions caused far more harm to this country, the Bush Administration, and more likely than not, you won't hear a voluntary peep from the highly vocal Kennedy haters.

He wrecked his car. Most reasonable people would call that an accident or at most manslaughter. Your "murder" label undermines your position and reveals your bias.

Way to make unfounded assumptions... I (and I know of others who feel the same way) take serious issue with the retard in chief and what he did to this country. But I also have a serious problem with a murderer being continually re-elected back into the United States Senate.

If you'll recall, I've said on many occasions that I have serious issues with Bush and never voted for him.

You would be wrong too.

Its debateable who caused more harm with their "spending like a drunken sailor" ways, George Bush and his cronies in Congress or the long list of free spending Democrats over the years including Teddy Boy.

However, that being said, with Ted Kennedy now worm food, that means GWB just moved up one spot on my list of "Top 10 politicians that need to be swinging from a rope"

And he has a track record of being a drunken, murdering, douchebag. Kinda odd that they're focused on one side of him with little mention of the other no?

BTW thanks for devolving to an ad hominem attack, the typical realm of those with no real arguments...

You called me a liar and then called Kennedy a douche bag. I'm supposed to take you seriously when it comes to attacks and real arguments! Lol! :)

I believe in 45 years in congress he did far more to send this country where it is today than anything Bush.1.0 or Bush.2.0 ever did. I expect the healthcare bill just became the "Ted Kennedy Memorial Healthcare Reform".

Your sarcasm detector is broken isn't it. Let me edit my prior post to make it easier for a left winger to understand...

I feel for his family but from what I've heard about him I don't think I have any respect for him.

Listen newb, I'll explain this so maybe you can understand. What part of "You LIE" and "And he has a track record of being a drunken, murdering, douchebag" did I not recognize as sarcasm? You attack me and I respond, you call Kennedy a "murdering douchebag" and then accuse me of making shallow arguments? Get real and grow up... :)

You're resorting to calling people "newbs" in order to get your point across.... very mature. Lawl. Anyway, the "you LIE" portion of what Nova said was the sarcastic part, he was commenting on the fact that the MSM is making Kennedy out to be a wonderful person who did no wrong and paying no attention to what we're discussing here. So yes, your sarcasm detector is in fact broken. Calm down.

Nothing of the sort, my point would have been made regardless and it clearly says "newbie" under his name. ;) If you are going to accuse someone of making shallow arguments, your arguments better have some meat behind them and not just name calling. Regarding sarcasm in text chat, it can be intended but unless you know someone, you have to go out of your way to make it apparent. There are a variety of ways to do this including sarcasm icons.

If you posted a statement "Ron Paul is a good guy" then posted a link in support of that and I came back and called you a liar, period- Would you say I was being sarcastic? How would you know if I was being sarcastic or just calling you a liar? We all have feelings based on personal philosophy, we argue vigorously in this forum, but IMO you'd better be careful when you accuse someone of lying whether you mean it or are being sarcastic.
