I never said she was and I could care less what she does honestly...

Then why are all you MEN clogging up her thread w/ your vaginaless opinions when you could be drinking a big glass of STFU instead??? It doesn't concern ANY of you and what she's doing is extremely honorable.

That's all I'm going to say about it because I know Jezz can handle herself. It's just my 2 cents.

I have to say this isn't the worst I've heard by a long shot... that gem belongs to another male who said to me and I quote....

"I would never allow my wife to do that... I wouldn't something run through her and then not be able to keep it."

:shock for reals y'all

It's funny that you seem to be the biggest mouth in here. Why don't you sit back and let her handle the questions in her own thread? What seems like bull to you are very valid questions and she seems to be handling it very well.

I for one thinks she handling this topic very well and commend her on that.

I agree, she's handling it very well. But I'm perfectly w/in my rights to call people out on their asinine assumptions...you seem to be rather fond of it since you stepped down as admin, yourself.

Thanks guys! Like I stated in the OP... ask away! I know it's different, and many people aren't familiar with it so I enjoy answering the questions. It helps for in real life when people ask me questions that I haven't heard or may not have thought of. It's also something that's more in the media now with more celeb couples doing it recently, so I'm happy to help clear up misconceptions, and give information where I can.

Joe: jesus man, get over your self. If you're desperate to set the world to rights, I'm sure there are better places to start.

Dude, give me a little more credit to realize you're pretty much wasting your time on a general social internet forum if your goal is to "set the world to rights".

I made a factual comment, nothing more. Shit, with the world population going where it is, hey, the more the merrier LOL.

That said, you don't think I knew I wasn't going to get crap if I wasn't going to sing kumbaya with everyone?

I get the same crap from people on dog forums when I ask why they spent a shit load of money on a dog when millions are being destroyed every year.

I can't speak for Tim, but I'd like to think he was smart enough to step down as a moderator because he realizes that there can be a serious conflict of interest when you're moderating threads that you participate in.

Nice "high ground" comment about Tim stepping down, nice to see you can get in the pen and get dirty playing with the pigs yourself:thumbup

Then again, if you participate in a thread and I don't agree with you, and make the same smart ass comments you want to rally against (which you did with Tim), and I decide to hop into the pen, can I be expected to get a ban if I get you dirty playing in the pen?

Who did you see get banned for that?

No one.

BUT, been around long enough to know that human nature being what it is, when one has power, sometimes people exercise that power when they get personally involved.

That's the nice thing about technical forums. Doesn't' matter what your opinion is, 4+4 will always equal 8.

Because we can? It was posted on in an open discussion and everyone has opinion; If you post something; anything... You're bound to get various opinions?

I agree Joe but I also think when the first thing typed in a post is an insult with her name on it then she is allowed to say something in return.....admin or not.

I agree 100%

BUT the moderator IMO is setting themselves up to begin with by jumping in and posting something that wasn't needed.

There was no reason to come to the defense of the OP. Personally, she (the OP) strikes me as my kind of woman, and I have no doubt she can hold her own LOL

And yes, this thread has jumped off the tracks some time ago.

I agree Jezz handles herself just fine but I don't think being a mod or Admin means you have to leave your opinions at the door every time you sign in. We are still allowed an opinion and the right to post it, as was Tim when he was an Admin here and he said what was on his mind.

Jezz you got this, I'm just taking up space.:D

Dude you guys all need to back off, lol. Natasha, pretty sure Jezz is cool with men offering their opinions, so I don't know why you're needlessly "moderating" by telling them to piss-off, lol. Joe , you are allowed your opinions but it seems like you're treating the thread as if it's in the P&D section - not everything's a debate, man.

Anywho, this nonsense (my own included) is clogging up a thread I'm quite interested in following, lol, so can we all take the bickering elsewhere?

So....back on topic....

What sort of screening process is involved? What happens if you, or the parents, change your minds...not that I can see that happening, but I'm sure it has to be covered.

As a parent who had to wait through several hard years before being blessed with two beautiful children, I'd respectfully suggest that you revisit this statement.

You're absolutely right. My comment was out of line and I apologize. I have a bad habit of defending people who don't need me to defend them, as I'm not one to sit idly by and witness something I think is wrong w/o making it known that I think it's wrong.

Having said that, you and Shan both made good points and I can admit when I'm wrong. My responses to the men were overly harsh and, to be honest, I don't even know why. I'll just have to chalk it up to a random bitch-fit.

Back to the topic at hand, lots of well wishes for you, Jezz...being able to give a couple such an amazing gift is going to be an awesome experience!!!

So....back on topic....

What sort of screening process is involved? What happens if you, or the parents, change your minds...not that I can see that happening, but I'm sure it has to be covered.

Screening process- Every agency is different, but I'll tell you what I went through and what I know some others went through. Also, important to note.... many people do all this without an agency. They find people and get matched up themselves (go "Indy"), but I don't know anything about that stuff... and while it can be cheaper for the parents (the agency doesn't get their cut), there are many horror stories when you don't have a solid middleman to handle everything for you - bills, payments, disagreements, etc.

My agency screening went like this - I filled out an application for more information for about 5 different agencies online over the period of a holiday weekend. Each little application took about 30 mins and wanted to know about your previous pregnancies/births, your health, why you're interested, and your home situation. Then if you pass all that, they call/email you and sent me an even more in depth like 30 page application filled with questions. The questions included religious beliefs, how you would feel if the baby needed to be aborted, what you do in your spare time... it was really like a dating profile mixed in with your health history and beliefs. I also had to sign releases and they did a hospital records check of my daughter's birth, released all my prenatal records from my OBGYN, and they did background and credit checks on my husband and I.

Once we pass all that we wait to get seriously matched with a couple. When that happened, they flew me and my husband to Boston and we both had two days filled with testing. Blood tests to check for anything, I had a small physical, they gave me a PAP and checked my uterus, we both had to psychological tests with a therapist (I forget what it's called... some common 500 question test), we both talked separately to the therapist about why we're doing this and any fears/concerns we had, then we also had a together meeting with social worker to discuss the same things.

Some things I know my agency requires - you have to have had a complication free pregnancy/birth, no abnormal PAPs in last X amount of time, not be on any kind of gov't assistant (you can't NEED the money), there's also an age and weight limit. I think the age limit is in the late 30s, maybe 37? and the weight limit goes by BMI.
