Of course it is my responsiblity, but that is the source of my respect for those who serve in the armed forces. I cannot take up arms and serve to protect our country. I do not confuse the meaning behind any war in which they fight with whether I owe them respect or not either. That is the nature of the military, they do not start wars, that lies with politicians. Servicemen and women do what they are told and are living up to their agreement with the service under which they signed up. Though it may question the mission themselves, and some have, they still do their job and I respect that they enlist knowing their lives could very possibly be on the line.

I respect that.

but i'm not arguing against that point of view....nor the OP's
they're both the result of freedom
the question is: can you respect the one you disagree with?

would you fight to defend it?

The OP should alone respect the fact that if it wasn't for people going out fighting and dying for his freedom, he wouldn't have the freedom to sit at his computer talking crap about them.

Bored since your other place is down eh :D
yeppers :p

and a great after christmas to ya, IPN

And interesting response you gave here

I think you might right about it now being PC for those to honor the troops. Me thinks that is another casualty of Nam.
ya gotta wonder sometimes :ninja
but it goes deeper than 'Nam....as the world got smaller, it became a better mirror, reflecting our presence on it.....as individuals, it feels like we began to sense what we are railing against now....our freedom as individuals in this country, the right to bask in the wealth of opprotunity it has provided us, came -ultimately, and in part- as the result of a government we financed to look out for our best interests.

the interest we have paid on that loan is a government we no longer feel we control....as the blinders come off, we face some paradoxes

we reap what we sow.

Me too....

I can remember when I was small and seeing the news coverage of Vietnam. I remember seeing people spitting on our returning Troops. I thought that was sad. If you want to spit on someone, go spit on the politicians that sent them to war. That is who you spit on. Period.

indeed.....:thumbup

I see your point, and I agree with some of the things you say.
But let's think about it: the soldiers that sacrificed their lives for a cause they believed in, they were definitely brave, to just go out there and fight. It's not a piece of cake. In that way, I'm proud of them. It's good to see that some people really do what it takes to get what they want.

But! Of course the main causes are stupid. And the result is usually bad, as well. Humanity is selfish. Very selfish. We only believe that what we think is right, and no matter how crazy it sounds, it's still "right". People are starving, still, we're making movies (that usually suck) for enough money to save thousands of people.

This is the way our world works. We fight, no matter how stupid the cause is, we give priority to pointless things.
All of this results in starving people, DYING people. Someone's son, daughter, mother, father, best friend. People die.

If people would just stop fighting, things would change and become so much better. Just stop.
And get over everything. Share, love, whatever. That would be nice. But that's never gonna happen, haha.

Its very hard to help starving people in other countries when their corrupt governments steal all the aid given. Overthrowing them through war is probably a better way to help the people.

This post gets my vote for the fucking stupidest, insensitive, and insulting post in this entire thread. If you can't understand that some things are important enough to get passionate, even angry over, then you need to go back and slap who raised you for failing to do their jobs right.

If this post upsets you, then you need to calm down. Some people just don't agree with you. Get over it.

post doesn't bother me. i love it how people get all bent out of shape that people have their opinions of troops. again, who cares what the opinions may be. I already know and understand things that are important enough to get passionate and angry over, so our views differ. again who cares.

just wrong, i think the vets have every right to be angry. take vietnam for example, they came home from a war that fucked them up physicaly and mentally just to get spit on by the vary people they were fighting for. some of them ended up living on the streets and we just walk the fuck right by them

i know i dont make to many serious post but this thread really desturbed me

i for one am vary gratefull that those men and women served and fought for our country so we can have our freedom, that same freedom you use to sit here and piss and mone that helped give you this freedom

unfucking real

anyway, i thank ALL of you men and women that served this country of ours, if you had to serve or not, i thank you

I thank my grandfather, who gave us that freedom..And I thank my dad for vietnam....but that was a different era.

Again, my own opinion peeps.
