So.. The Movie Club

I mentioned it long long ago and it had some supporters. Who's in? Tell me if you're in and we can figure out how we'll pick movies.

Well basically a movie gets picked every month (though I don't know how yet, which is what we can discuss... otherwise I'll just look around the net for 5 or so different movies and then list them as choices), and we discuss it for that month. This is different than normal movie threads because we'll pick movies that actually have tons to discuss. For example: deep story, interesting direction, interesting cinematography, great acting, whatever.

Some movies are just entertainment, others have "more to offer." Both are fine, but the movie club is for the latter.

Could just make threads about whatever movies but maybe people will be more inclined to reply if they feel they're part of a club.

I don't know if I explained this well.

You have. Are the movies that you are intending on picking movies being shown in theaters at that time or something that can be picked up at the local rental store? I believe that latter would work much more efficiently considering not all movies are shown in all areas. So, sure, count me in.

Oh yeah, rentals for sure. Theaters don't work that well for the reason you said and because it costs a bunch of money and you don't have the movie for any length of time so if someone talks about a specific scene then it's difficult to go back and re-watch it.

I'm not sure how easy it will be for me, because it can be a real pain to get a hold of good movies in this country without buying them... cocksucking useless blockbusters!

About 99% of the movies out there are based on books.

Well, deep movies are best for something you have to discuss for a month (though I doubt the convo will last that long). I mean, a movie like... uh... Wanted might be entertaining and all but what will you talk about? And just cuz a movie is classic doesn't mean it'd make for a good MoTM.

Then it's a matter of figuring out what makes a movie deep.
