So Jesus was perfection?

No distortions in the Bible? Did you miss my previous post listing just a handful of the hundreds of self contradictions in the Bible?

And if Jesus ever challenged anyone to find fault with him because he is perfect then he is not sinless - he is vain, one of the seven deadlies in fact. Braggary is a no no.

A human being with divine powers? You know how absurd that sounds? He was both human and God. Sure is human side would have WANTS and NEEDS.

The seventeenth chapter of John records Jesus Christ's high priestly prayer. "After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed: 'Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began'" (John 17:1-5)

Hey, i have only been a christian over a year now. I can not gather so much information in so little time. But believe this, i will read up on everything that you throw at me that if in the future i have this conversation i will be able to stand my ground.

lmao I love this. You just agreed with me.

But you haven't even rebutted my argument. If a perfect god has wants and needs, his human condition negates his perfection.

What life altering occurrence happened to convert you?

If you are using Bible quotes to stand your ground, you must assume all forum members believe it's a 100% accurate source? (hint: they don't) First you must prove the Bible is the truth. And there is absolutely no way to do that. In the mean time, quoting the Bible in a religious debate is a bit laughable, unless all you are doing is proclaiming your faith. :)

I did not agree with you Mr Failed. You said Jesus was a man with somewhat divine power. I said he was both human and divine.

God is perfect in grace, in wisdom, in knowledge, in beauty, in holiness, in love, in power, in righteousness, in justice, in all that He is and all that He does. There is no thought or word or deed of God that is less than the ultimate it could be.

The word perfect means
entirely without any flaws, defects, or shortcomings

And by saying that he has "needs and wants", you are suggesting that he needs food and water. Having a need for food and water is a sign of imperfection? No it is not.

The bible was written about some 1500 years ago or so. The bible consist of Sixty six books written in different literary styles by perhaps 40 different authors with diverse backgrounds. If it was being edited over the years, how does the bible unfolds one continuous message?

This points to the existence of the divine mind that the writers claimed inspired them. The Bible has also an extraordinary transformative power. From the beginning, it has renewed people, given them hope, courage, purpose, wisdom, guidance, and power; and formed an anchor for their lives. If the bible was distorted and not the word of God but men, it would not have had any significant effect or difference on the millions of be who have conformed to the ways to the word of the Lord.

Many leading archaeologists have pointed out that no discovery has ever disproved a Biblical reference.

And Jesus was not bragging about His sinless life. He simply asking for what reason was he being crucified. What wrong did he do? If i was brought to court based on accusations and was to be sentence and i ask a question trying to prove my innocence... Am i bragging about my innocence or simply trying to prove that their is no charges against me?

Archaeologists have made discoveries confirming King David, the patriarchs — the narratives about Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah was thought to be mythological until evidence was uncovered that all five cities mentioned in Genesis were in fact, situated just as the Old Testament said. As far as their destruction goes, archaeologist Clifford Wilson said: “there is permanent evidence of the great conflagration that took place.”

Albright, who spent 40 years as the leader of the American School of Oriental Research, concluded the same with regard to the New Testament. Whilst archaeology can confirm the historical accuracy of the Bible, the divine authority of the Bible has also been established through confirmation by miracles and predictive prophesy. The Bible is the only book in the world that has precise, specific predictions that were made hundreds of years in advance and that where literally fulfilled.

Need i say more on that matter Sophie?

which is basically the same thing we're both saying through differeing semantics.

Actually need and want ARE signs of imperfection because "perfection" assumes that everything is perfect and needs nothing because it is perfect and nothing that is perfect needs somehting else because it is totally whole.

If i told you it would not make any sense to you.
try us. Or you can continue to sound pretentious.

wait so how does the bible getting some historical events correct any evidence of it being divinely inspired? any moron can write down babble with some accuracy entailed.

How the fuck can the SON of God be both human AND God. In the Christian belief system isn't there only ONE God?

Wowzers...

How you ask me? " I don't know how my brother; I know that Jesus is one person with two natures. How can that be? Long before there was a human nature there was a second person of the Trinity. Here the second person of the Trinity, very God of very God, God himself, was able to take upon himself a human nature. No human being could reverse the process and take upon himself a divine nature. So All Else Failed statement about how Jesus was human with divine powers is absurd. I cannot add deity to my humanity. It's not as if Christ changed from deity into humanity.

That's what I hear all the time. I hear that there was this great eternal God who suddenly stopped being God and became a man. That's not what the Bible teaches. The divine person took upon himself a human nature. We really can't understand the mystery of how this happened. But it is conceivable, certainly, that God, with his power, can add to himself a human nature and do it in such a way as to unite two natures in one person.

The perfect fantasy. Who would not want to believe that?? The only problem is how do you know God (the Christian God) is perfect, much less exists? Yeah, I know 1) it says in the Bible, 2) you feel God's presence, 3) your faith, 4) all of the above... :ninja
