I'll throw in my two cents.

...we have to be aware of that. And our job, as a government, is to create an environment in which there's maximum space for each person, each view, for each person to live his own life without impinging on other people...

huh. sounds, to me, like he's planning on building a home for every gay person. Or an institution... Also, he keeps saying "him" when referring to gays. Also, he's not as "eloquent as President Obama" insofar as him exclaiming "I'm gay and I'm proud of it!"

Is the drug menace under control with liberalisation of drug laws in Australia or USA?

Arguably, the United States have very strict penalties for drug related offenses, they aren’t exactly working either. Australia adopts more of a ‘harm reduction’ approach. The ‘drug menace’, as you have so eloquently put it, won’t stop simply because you kill those responsible for manufacturing, trafficking and using narcotics.

We were successful in containing the drug problem. Besides the strict legislation there are also education programmes. Fewer arrests and fewer relapses are being reported.

they should change that law so people are caught and made to pay for sidewalk cleaning service.

That is exactly what I've heard the reasoning is behind it, they don't want to have it plastered on the streets and public spaces, like under tables.

I know people who go there on business and it was interesting that during meetings, sometimes, the Singpore attendees were chewing gum. So how did they get it, I wondered.

Kelvin, how could that be?

All the drug-runners who didn't wanna risk the death penalty started importing gum instead :D
