Should Circumcision be banned?

I asked my boys dad who ISNT and is nearly 40 a while back when this first started if he ever felt different or embarressed.
After asking WHY i wanted to know, and telling him about this ,He cracked up at how you "yanks" are obsessed with it...and said he didnt talk penis looks with his mates, and never felt different.

DId you guys point and laugh at each other in the showers?

Did you REALLY talk about little Johnnys uncircucised penis amongst your mates?

Not as adults, but You bet your ass we would in our teens if we found out that there was ONE guy in our school who hadn't been circumcised. :nod:

And who says I would be the one looking? Could be anyone, another boy at school, a girl he's going out with that sees it and freaks out, just one person has to see and then the rumor spreads and pretty soon the entire school knows about it and all his classmates have nicknamed him "Foreskin Billy", is that what you really want for your son? lol I was trying to bring some humor into this thread that is for some reason entirely too serious, and if I were to for some reason move to australia tomorrow, meet a girl and make a baby with her I would not have the kid circumcised, even though I think it would look better, because I would NOT want my son to be the only "Nipped Nathan" in a land full of "Foreskin Billys", it just wouldn't be right to do that to the kid.

I voted and said banned... but I feel it should be left up to Doctors for health reasons... if it became infected and the skin had to be removed. (or religious, because... someone wrote it down in scripture because they were to lazy to show little boys how to wash their pecker..)

I just don't get why parents let hospitals do it, or opt to have it done, I signed several papers saying I didn't want it done to Michael. And the stupid nurses came one day and tried to take him from me to have the procedure done. I had to remind them nearly everyday it wasn't happening and to read their damn charts.

You don't see us opting to have our daughters labia libs trimmed down because some look like the taco filling fell out...

I also say banned, with the exception of medical necessity. Perhaps also in the case of a consenting adult.

I don't see anything freeing about chopping of my son's penis skin. Or hospitals taking it on their own to do it without asking the parents.

If he wants to later on, fine. I'm not putting my kids through any piercings they may not want or surgeries they don't need. JMO

It's also not personal... when the babies having the procedure done, don't get the choice.

I just came across this article about a movement to ban circumcision in San Francisco, ya know I've never thought of it as mutilation but I suppose that's exactly what it is, I've always just thought of circumcision as a normal thing, I'm not jewish at all and I was circumcised, what do you guys think about this?

Errrr, no sorry but that is due to using 'protection' or celibacy etc...nothing to do with being circumcised or not, so I think that scientist is slightly dodgy :24:

There is no way a hospital is going to preform a medical procedure on an infant without parental consent. There is no way you could convince me otherwise.
