Should Circumcision be banned?

I have no problem with circumcision, I haven't been but I know people who have, they have no repressed memory of it or anything so it couldn't have been that bad. Apparently it makes your knob easier to clean to.

to circumcise or not to circumcise is a decision that should be left to individual infant's parents.

i am opposed to forcing any people to conform to any of the mores or tenets of another people's faith against their will. that is to say that i would vigorously oppose any legislation that proposed to ban or force circumcision on anybody.

i have seen many arguments about hygienic and sensual advantages to removing the foreskin. i have also heard arguments for sensual advantages, but i'm pretty sure i could produce data from clinical studies that clearly prove the hygienic benefits of the procedure if anybody really felt the need to press me on the point.

as for why the jews do that or anything else the jews do that seems peculiar to gentiles, after the rabbis are done schmoozing it up, it always comes back to "because hashem commanded us to do it".

his rap was that if you were a slave and the taskmaster was around, you'd bust into a song and dance to get the taskmaster to smile and laugh, forgetting that he was going to beat the crap out of you.

most people, by nature, are nice. jews sometimes are extra nice because of their devotion to the spirit of the commandment or their fear that gentiles will turn on them.

i was thinking more along the lines of a smilie dude flashing fingers but that'll work, especially if it's in the smilies directory here and i don't have to go chase it down from somewhere. i refuse to load a pile of those things into my machines. one of my many internet - related quirks.

being an old school academician (among other things) i've discovered that smilies help me avoid problems with people who don't comprehend my meaning and take key, volatile words out of context.

huh?

i posted no PM's on the open board and in fact, relieved that it is forbidden here.

i received a clearly threatening and in a way, racist PM from a member and forwarded it immediately to veronica without responding to the sender.

on reflection, i realize that saying that i had done that here was an error and will accept the fitting punishment for that action with a peep.

of course, i would expect the person who made the threat to be dealt with accordingly.
