In your own words circumcision is an act of child abuse, an act of child abuse is more than just a "mistake" IMO.

I think forced circumcision is an act of child abuse. That's why it should be banned until age 18. But I don't think myself or others who had their sons circumcised should be punished. You shouldn't make retroactive laws. But neither should we continue to violate the rights of children.

I honestly just think you're disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing here.

Not at all. If a ban of circumcision until age 18 were put on the ballot then I would definitely vote for it. I do not think parents have the right to subject their children to unnecessary and painful medical procedures for the sake of tradition or religion. It is a violation of their rights. You do not have to agree with me. I am just voicing my opinion and answering the questions put to me.

Do you think your child is any worse off for having been circumcised? Other than some pain that he has no recollection of do you feel that the procedure has had any negative impact on his life?

He's probably not any worse off now. But it was likely very painful. Just because he doesn't remember doesn't mean he didn't suffer.

Is it the worse thing I could have done to him? Absolutely not. But I do think he should have the right to make that decision for himself. People keep pointing out that a baby isn't old enough to decide. I understand that. If it were a necessary procedure then it would be my job to make the decision for him. But it isn't necessary and it is painful. That changes things.

I understand that, and I am definitely not saying that a person should have to have their children circumcised, Personally I fully intend to have any future male children I have circumcised, unless of course it is made illegal by then.

bad argument.... we cut our hair when it gets too long.... well most of us... and you're not cutting off a body part... We're not neutering kids....

Hair doesn't hurt when you cut it off. Hair is not skin. The lengths of hair do not have pain receptors. There is no risk to cutting your hair unlike cutting off a piece of skin in the most sensitive part of your body.

I think being Jewish is a null point... In America it's a common practice. My family is Episcopalian and I was circumcized

DH is/was brought up catholic and he's circumcised. we're not religious at all and DS was circumcised. although it was a medical emergency and medically necessary, we still would have had him circumcised.
