You're in your twenties for god sake!
Unless you're being sarcastic, in which I hope you are.

I'd just like to elaborate on my opinion on this. I wasn't saying I agreed with kids having sex when the're 14 because I don't but the sad fact remains that some of them will have sex whatever you try to do. When I talk about education they should be taught that having sex at such a young age is really not the way to go but if the're going to have sex, for Gods sake use a condom. They should be taught how to use it properly as well as the dangers of STDs and pregnancy.

I understood you before, and I am in complete agreement with you. You have a lot of common sense :)

Here I have to agree. The truth is kids are going to experiment and it will have unwanted consequenses. Especially if there is no education. I grew up in a small town (still live there) and sex education wasn't even adressed untill kids were 15. By that time I had several classmates who were parents and more with babies on the way. Maybe if education had been taught sooner and these young men and women would have at the very least been safe and not become parents so soon.

Just seen a recent survey that shows that over here in the UK 1 in 3 teenagers don't use a condom when having sex! Shocking!

Matt and I were actually talking about this the other day.

England has the highest teen pregnancy rate in Europe, and Blackpool has the highest teen pregnancy rate in England (so basically, in all of Europe). This baffles Matt to no end, because contraception is very available. Condoms are available everywhere, and the pill is free! There is no reason for the teen pregnancy rate to be so high in England.

I think that in England, it has just become so socially acceptable to have a child young, that no one really questions it. With all the benefits, they're esentially making money off of having a child before the age of eighteen.

How very true. In my communitee it has become socially acceptable to have babies at younger and younger ages. While not being the responsible thing to do, it does have financial benifits. Tax dollars will take care of the young mothers and their children. It won't pay as well as say getting an education and a real job, but it pays. With day cares in high schools and pregnaut 15 year olds in the hall ways, what message are we sending the youth today? Make no mistake, I'm not advocating 14 year olds having sex, but by making it illegal your just filling it with "danger and mystery". They will want to try it and now they won't talk about it, because it's "bad and wrong". How else do you explain the "epidemic" in the communitee where I live?

It's Blackpool now? 5 -10 years ago it used to be my town, Harlow, kids with kids everywhere, still are. I remember when I was at school and one girl had been pregnant 3 times before her 14th birthday, surely someone must have shown her what a condom was before then!

Regardless whether its legal or not, kids are going to do it. No parent is going to get their kid hauled off to jail because they had sex.

I'll guess that it's not that she didn't know what a condom was, but that she wanted to be pregnaut. I graduated with a girl who was 6 months pregnaut with her third child.
She knew what a condom was, we all did after sex ed. Her reasoning was that she didn't want too much of an age gap in her children. (The first was born when she was 14.) I still wonder why nobody bothered to tell her sooner that what she was doing was dumb. After all, children raising children...? She's a welfare queen now.

Well I don't think she wanted to be pregnant judging by the fact she aborted all three babies! I can only assume that she was under presure from her boyfriend not to use a condom, was Cathoilc or was several sandwiches short of a picnic...or may be any combination of the above!
