All that money and effort on a single senator seat. Might make a more cynical type think there's more personal gain than just a chance to write legislation.

Forget who won and who lost. Consider for a moment how much this cost taxpayers.

Look at this ballot, challenged by Franken, and tell me if the "voter intent" is unclear:

This one was challenged by Coleman on the grounds that that the circle wasn't filled in right? I can see it, looks like the voter's intent was pretty fucking clear.

Why were these challenged? Because theycould be, not because they needed to be. These two selfish fucks just cost the state an untold amount of money, as well as taking away time that the winner was supposed to be serving his state.

I'm not going to waste my time and look at all of these, but it sure looks like they were just challenging votes because they could. Looks to me like neither one of them is mature enough to be in our Senate if you ask me. :dunno

I agree they were each looking out for their own best interests. It looks like spit balling was done on both sides. Me, I'm glad Franken won. I think he will be good a representative for Minnesotans.

I think the Senate loses either way. It's full of tools already, and they were guaranteed another no matter the outcome of this race.

I'd love to see the day when Americans vote for intelligence and common sense over celebrity, but I fear I will never see that again.

Hmmm...so people who are celebrities should automatically be eliminated from serving their country?

Yeah, pretty much. I'm not a fan of entertainment and politics mixing. The lines are too blurred already.

And I hardly count being in the Senate as "serving your country" in today's world - considering the vast increase in money and power that Senators gain. I have serious doubts that anyone's motivation is about "serving"

The perks are undeniable, but they are still serving their country. They have to live in two cities, sometimes across a continent. I know there are those who are completely unqualified in the House, I'm not so sure about senators. It's a tougher group to enter. The house has some bona fide whackos though.

At the Senate level they're mostly just bona fide criminals.

I mean, seriously? Please tell me you don't actually believe there are people at the Senate level who take on their position with the best interests of average Americans at heart, do you? There's just no evidence to support that.

Really? So NONE of them have any motivation other than self promotion?

Hmmm, I'm curious how you arrived at that conclusion. I think it's gross generalization.

They are all bought and paid for by the time they are out of local offices. I would say less than 5% vote their conscience and are decent stewards. The rest are scum.

I didn't say "self promotion." I said they are not serving the interests of the average American. They are serving the interests of the power brokers, major campaign contributors and lobbyists who got them elected.

Why do you think that? What has he promised?

One more clown in Congress. he will make a good fit

Just goes to show how pathetic the candidate pool is.

Coleman vs Franken- I listened to Franken on the radio for a year. You may not have liked the choice but he was the better of the two if you care about labor. Former Democrat Coleman was an opportunist, go-with-the-flow kinda guy.
