What the hell? Why is it always Republicans? To think it, much less say it. Even if it is just symbolic, this is the kind of imagery the GOP relishes? Come on guys, defend this...

Huffington Post- Jay Townson, GOP Spokesman on Hurling Acid at Female Senators:

A spokesman for Rep. Nan Hayworth (R-N.Y.) is facing criticism after advocating violence against female Democratic senators in a Facebook post.
Jay Townsend, the official campaign spokesman for the freshman representative, went on a vicious online rant on Saturday, which he began by taunting a constituent who voiced criticism about an earlier post on gas prices. "Listen to Tom. What a little bee he has in his bonnet. Buzz Buzz," Townsend wrote.
"My question today... when is Tommy boy going to weigh in on all the Lilly Ledbetter hypocrites who claim to be fighting the War on Women? Let’s hurl some acid at those female democratic Senators who won’t abide the mandates they want to impose on the private sector."

Hey, Nan Hayworth is my congresswoman how bout that. lolz

This video is circulating in Republican circles and it's really getting their collective panties in a wad.

I wanted to see the context in which Obama said this. So I watched the video of the complete speech.
The entire speech can be viewed here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jALfyG0elHI

The part of the speech which includes the 45 sec clip that has Republicans in a tizzy, starts at 10:16 and ends at 11:54. What is the uproar all about????shrug_n2.gif

Partisans will grab at anything they think might make the "other side" look bad. I'd probably have said thingamajig, whatchacallit, or some such thing. It's a little funny and a little sad to watch them get an embolism trying to point out a new flaw, no matter how much imagination you have to use to see it.

Are there women out there who actually vote GOP? ;)

Senate GOP blocks Democrats' equal pay bill

WASHINGTON (AP) – Senate Republicans have blocked a bill that calls for equal pay in the workplace.

As expected, the vote Tuesday fell short of the 60 votes needed to advance the legislation. President Obama and his Democratic allies argue that the legislation is needed to protect people who try to find out how their pay stacks up against their coworkers. Republicans said it puts too much burden on employers.

The vote was the latest effort by Democrats to protect their lead among critical women voters this presidential and congressional election year. Republicans are focusing on the No. 1 concern for all voters: jobs and the economy.

Obama strongly supports the bill. Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney has not taken a stand but his campaign says he favors pay equity in the workplace.

mmediately after the Paycheck Fairness Act failed to get enough votes to avoid a filibuster in the Senate today, Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), clearly fed up, gave a rousing speech aimed at women across the country who are equally angry at being under-paid and treated as unequal citizens. Taking the floor as soon as the measure failed, Mikulski, who reintroduced the bill last week, shouted, “We’re going to foment our own revolution”:
I say to the women out there in America, let’s keep this fight going. Put on your lipstick, square your shoulders, suit up, and let’s fight for a new American revolution where women are paid equal pay for equal work, and let’s end wage discrimination in this century once and for all.

D1: How do we protect our lead among the dames, erm, the women voters?
D2: How about dusting off that equal pay bill again?
D1: What? And risk losing our C3 (Corporate Campaign Contributions)?
D2: Don't worry, the Repubs'll never let it fly. We're safe.
D1: Okay, if you say so.

You really believe this bullshit, don't you...?

The dems are ONLY playing games and Repubs are protecting jobs and the economy.... you have got to be kidding me.

The absolute last thing the republicans want before this election is the economy looking better.

Come on, Tim, open both eyes for a change. I challenge you to find one time where I said the repubs are protecting jobs and the economy. ONE. I'll give you half my tokens (if I can figure out how) if you can.

BOTH "sides" (for lack of an accurate word) are playing games. NEITHER "side" gives a shit about the economy - at least as concerns us. The absolute last thing WASHINGTON wants before this election is the economy looking better. Dems get to claim that the job's not finished, and one shouldn't change horses in mid-stream. Repubs get to point and say it's all the dems' fault for not improving employment out of one side of their mouth, while saying gov't can't create jobs only employers can, while talking out their ass "Vote for me and I'll create jobs!"

All this while both sides acknowledge that job creation happens in small business, then shovel more money to big corp in the name of job creation. :willy_nilly:

So you are immune to GOP attacks on women. And you pride yourself on your logic and an unbiased nature, uh-huh. :)

One thing that's really bothered me a lot in the TX senate race is the number of endorsements from outside Texas both repub frontrunners flaunt. It's clear that no matter who gets Hutchison's old seat, the votes will be consistently for more centralized gov't, rather than a representation of Texas interests.
