Reasons I question if God exists

I pray every time I buy a lottery ticket to win the "jackpot" but I never have hit it.

I pray everyday from the end of the last NFL football season to the start of the next for the Dolphins to win the Superbowl. We all know how this has turned out since 1984(when I started praying).

I see men in the cloth looking up the cloth of little boys.

Carbon dating.

Why does everything fun have to be so bad according to the Lord?

Like what? What does the Lord consider bad? Let's see. Being selfish & arrogant, lying, stealing, committing adultery, (you get the picture, if you're interested in more things that He considers bad or sinful, read The Book, in context of course)

I have tons of fun. So I guess it all depends on what your idea of fun is.

I know that the only reason God does not want me to do certain things is because of His provision of love and protection for me. And so I trust in Him and am obedient to the best of my ability, not to be saved, but so that I can enjoy living under His umbrella of protection and love. It is very liberating. There are some things that we may not understand, but if we love and trust, then we can obey without fully understanding.

It is just like when we were kids, we didn't understand why our parents laid down some of the rules they did, but as we got older and wiser, we understood. Those of us that respectfully obeyed our parents even though we didn't understand at the time were blessed, and those of us who arrogantly thought we knew more than our parents and disobeyed felt the consequences of stepping out from under our parent's umbrella of protection and love.

It is all pretty simple actually to understand. I just think that the Bible is such a large book that many tend to be spoon fed wrong information about the Word, instead of reading and finding out for themselves the instructions God left for us.

I quite like the muslim outlook of it all, (tho being a Christian)does that make me a religion hybrid? anyhoo, it states that the human mind could not even begin to comprehend what gods master plan is as were 'only human'. while bad things happen, they happen for a reason, one that we might understand when we pass on, but probably not.

Preying to win a lottery ticket is just silly, why would god grant a green driven preyer.

Why not? Whats a preyer anyway? Who are you to say what is silly for me to pray for?

This is the point of the thread. Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers. Since I question the existence I guess I have a lot of great gifts :)

The Bible was a great story someone created years ago to try to explain why we exist. However, it was written in a tongue that we can only try to decipher. No one can claim that what it says is what it actually meant.

Grace, if you followed the Bible word for word, I think that you would live like the Amish. However, like all Christians, you probably interpret the parts that only you like to obey and worship. Its all good, no one can live in today's society under those words.

Not seeing this one. Rep bestowed upon Gracey for her marvelous answer.

Faith is good.

It must not be bad OR God does the same things, too. Because after all, "he/she/it" supposedly created man in the image of him. And supposedly created EVERYTHING!
So if God exists, God is responsible for all the death, pain, stealing, conning, violence, perversion and destruction in the world. Not to mention you not winning the lottery or your favorite football team winning.

I can not follow the Bible word for word. I am not perfect. I can only continue to grow in my walk with the Lord until the day I die. It is about being faithful, not about being perfect, though our response should be to strive to be more Christ-like.

However, like all Christians, you probably interpret the parts that only you like to obey and worship.
Please do not make assumptions about my walk. We are suppose to focus on our own walks with the Lord anyway, not another's walk with the Lord - unless to help them.

Its all good, no one can live in today's society under those words.
Since God calls us to be in this world, but not of this world that is entirely not true. Society has nothing to do with it. It is because of our own choices that we do not live under His words of provision, love, and protection. We cannot pass the buck on to society for our own 'wrong' choices.

Her Faith or any faith? I mean there are many religions out there so who is to say what is the right one? You made a blanket statement and jumped on the Grace bandwagon.

I wasn't implying that whatever denomination that Grace aspires to is the right one, so saying that I jumped on the "Grace bandwagon" is an patent overstatement.

Faith in a higher power is good. I happen to believe in the God of the Bible, both Old and New Testament, and that He took human form in the form of His son, walked the earth, was crucified for redemption of our sins, was resurrected and will return to this earth for judgement for all souls.

That doesn't make me right nor do I claim it to, so I make so claims on my 'rightness' one way or the other. And it has nothing to do with Grace's denomination, or 'bandwagon' as it were.

Well I made the assumption since you openly repped her for it, so I apologize. Makes no difference to me, I don't care what anyone believes as long as they realize there are many belief systems out there.

AHA! And there you have it - you make the 'assumption' that just because I repped grace's answer, that I universally share her religious dogma and am jumping on her 'bandwagon' when in acutality, I was only repping the answer because it was good.

Apology accepted. ;)

And really, when I go back and read Grace's answer, it's not dogmatic or denominational in any way. I really like the part about people being spoon fed information and not seeking the answers themselves. That alone earned a rep. I wish I could rep it over and over. That's some deep stuff.

I go with the theory shit happens, what the hell?
Its all very well moaning because you prayed to God to win the lottery and for the Dolphins to win but maybe God prefers the Cowboys or something! Do you pray to God and thank him for all the good things, however small that happen to you every day without you even asking? I'm guessing not.

hmmm... Ive prayed all my life for my familys health. (Which IMO is the best prayer someone can pray about). My parents were in a bad motorcycle accident... and there goes that prayer. My brothers practically in a wheelchair from a disease. So, I kinda stopped praying after he didnt answer those.
