Becks play? I understand his contract is up, and he's on his way to Paris.

I've always liked David Beckham, he might not be the sharpest, and his best football might be a long way behind him, but he's a consumate professional and seems pretty down to earth still.

He's a cracking bloke. Always appreciated his skills and professionality on the field.

He played 90 minutes with a bad hamstring. What a guy.

Yep, he started and played the entire game... despite a hamstring injury he suffered earlier in the week. Had a number of beautiful crosses that our attackers just couldn't capitalize on. He also had a chance on a free kick that the Dynamo keeper just barely kept from going in the upper right of the goal. I hope he stays with Galaxy, but I'm pretty certain he'll be moving on. Keane also played really well, setting Donovan up for the winning goal, and having one disallowed on a very poof offsides call against him.

All in all, it was just nice to see the tandem of Donovan and Beckham finally win their title, especially with all of the tensions between the two of them early on.

Drew 2-2 at home with Benfica in the Champions League. Just an overwhelming feeling of meh, and it now becomes a case of avoid defeat in Basle in two weeks to qualify. Juts angry as with a win we go through, but we get a draw. I wasn't too disappointed with the performance from most players, just a couple of poor ones from a couple of players. I think we'll get somethnig in basle in two weeks but now we probably won't win the group, and that might mean Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the second round. It's a better position than City, they need to beat Bayern in the final game and hope Villarreal do them a favour against napoli.

Disappointing but not the end of the world.

Because I'm bored, here are the Champions League permutations for next time.

Group A

Manchester City have to beat Bayern Munich and hope Villarreal get a point or better against Napoli. Bayern are already through as group winners.

Group B

Inter have qualified as group winners. Trabzonspor will join them if they beat Lille away. Lille would go through with a win there while CSKA Moscow have to win at Inter and hope Lille and Trabzonspor draw to qualify.

Group C

Benfica have already qualified and would win the group if they beat Galati at home. Man United have to get a point or better at Basle to join them and will top the group if they better Benfica's result. Only victory will do for Basle. Galati are out of Europe completely.

Group D

Real Madrid have qualified as group winners. Ajax look really likely to join them as a 7 goal swing is required for Lyon to beat them to 2nd spot (this means Lyon need to beat Zagreb 5-0 and hope Real beat Ajax 2-0). Dynamo Zagreb are out of Europe completely.

Group E

Leverkusen have qualified and will guarantee top spot with a win in Genk who are themselves out of Europe. Chelsea need to either beat Valencia at home or hope it's a 0-0 draw. 1-1, better or Valencia win and the Spanish side will advance.

Group F

Arsenal have qualified as group winners. It's still open for the other slot though. Marseille would qualify if they beat Dortmund in Germany. Olympiakos have to beat Arsenal and hope that other game is either a draw or a Dortmund win, as they lead Dortmund in the head to head. Dortmund have to beat Marseille by at least 4 clear goals and hope Arsenal beat Olympiakos in Greece.

Group G

APOEL Nicosia have qualified and with a win over Shakhtar Donetsk would win the group. The winner of Zenit and Porto will qualify, although a draw will do for Zenit.

Group H

All done and dusted. Barcelona have won the group, Milan will finish second. Plzen look certain to get the Europa league spot as Bate have to go to Barcelona and win and hope Plzen don't get anything against Milan.

Went out of the Carling Cup to Palace 2-1 at home. Deserved to really. Though for a plus it did expose the fact that a few players just aren't good enoguh anymore, the likes of Macheda, Diouf, Berbatov, Park. Morrison and Pogba looked good but weren't helped. Ambroses's strike was something else.

David Luiz is absolutely terrible. He isn't helped by the other defenders either. Alex is poor, Terry is too old, Ivanovic is hit and miss. I'll take it to my grave that they should never have got rid of Carvalho.

I agree with just about everything you've said, but I still have faith in Park. We need to clear out a good number of the other names though. I'm not going to lie, I sort of wish we picked up Chamberlain - he's looking sharp.

The Ambrose goal was fantastic.
