And on that Note talking about QPR.....

QPR discussing fresh takeover plans

Bernie Ecclestone seems to be willing to sell his 69% stake as he has suggested before for around £100M.

Recently there was some disagreement when Vice-chairman Amit Bhatia, Mittal's son-in-law resigned over ticket price increase.

Maybe that's why there has been no money made available to Neil Warnock. Considering how rich QPR's owners were.

BBC Sport article on take over... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14338011.stm

Interview with Neil Warnock, from TalkSport where he says he only had £1.25M to spend, and is surprised. Here.... http://www.talksport.co.uk/sports-news/football/premier-league/9054/5/exclusive-warnock-admits-qpr-set-spend-%C2%A3125m-or-less-summer

Bernie Ecclestone's net worth is £1.46 Billion
Lakshmi Mittal's net worth is £26 Billion

Could be just a red herring.

You only have to look at how much clubs charge Man City for players to understand why they might say such a thing.

It's getting worse at QPR. Now the're talking about signing Robbie Keane and Tony Fernandez is making noises about buying them. This is the man who made an offer on twitter for West Ham and wanted to bring back Zola as manager, btw. :willy_nilly:i

Bradley's a better manager than Klinsmann.

I'll disagree... but we're going to find out. Klinsmann was hired to replace Bradley. It'll be interesting to see what he can do in the next two weeks, as we've got a match against Mexico on Aug. 10th.

Klinsmann gives me the impression of the good pretender. He hangs around just long enough to build a reputation while things are easy, then fucks off before or just after it gets tough - lest it spoil his reputation lol :)

He did alright in 2006 with Germany, albeit with a team that people rated so low that even coming out of the group stages was considered a success. As for his time in Bayern Munich, which he quit again after one season, he wasn't awful. But a team like Bayern expects at the very least to win the German league.

I always thought Bradley did a lot to bridge a gap between the USA and Mexico. Mexico are in the ascension now, but for a while it was hard to call who was better.

Nearly a week till the Football league starts now.

Survival is the name of the game for Wycombe, and face a difficult start against Scunthorpe.

I think Bradley did a decent enough job... but he couldn't get us any further. His defensive strategies were lackluster at best... our defense has been like swiss cheese for the last couple of years. We've put an unfair amount of pressure on Howard to make up for our deficiencies on the back line. The decisions that he's made on who to start or sub have been incredibly suspect as well. Basically, it was way past time for a change, and I think the Klinsmann will bring a welcome fresh perspective on the team and hopefully take us to the next level.

Beat Barcelona 2-1 in the final game in the USA. A wonderfully absorbing contest despite neither side being at full strength (though we were stronger). Nani scored the opener in the first half when he was put clean through and finished neatly. A wonderful equaliser from Thiago Alcantara with 20 minutes to go and at that point the game was heading for a draw and a penalty shoot out. However from Cleverley's through ball Michael Owen put it over Valdes in the Barca goal and made it 2-1. Owen should have made it 3-1 in stoppage time but fired over when scoring looked easier but in the end it was immaterial. While it won't and can't make up for the Champions League final defeat it will add to confidence as the step up in class of opponent dictated the team had to play better and they did. All in all a very successful pre season tour where games were won and fitness and games played were got.

Owen is looking good this summer. When fit, there aren't many better.

Just watched Paul Scholes' testimonial. Played against Eric Cantona's New York Cosmo's and it was a fitting end to a great career with many goals and some great football. Ended 6-0 to us. Scholes fittingly opened the scoring with a trademark piledriver from outside the area, it was in the script. The lead was doubled when Ashley Young was tripped in the area and despite the whole of the ground wanting him to take the penalty, Scholes graciously refused and Wayne Rooney finished emphatically. Into the second half and Anderson added a third before Danny Welbeck made it 4 in a match where he himself could have had a hat trick. Mame Diouf added a couple of his own but the biggest cheer was reserved for Scholes' departure in the 75th minute, the whole crowd stood and applauded and while Scholes didn't make a huge fuss of leaving, he certainly enjoyed it. In the end a very enjoyable game to watch and again a fitting end to a glorious career. Goodbye Paul, thanks for the memories. The best English player of his generation, no question.

Charity Shield later...well, Community Shield. Us vs City with a giant 50p on the line. In a way I like this game because it means the seasons only a week away, but I also see it as a friendly. That said it'd be nice to beat them again. I hope to see Tom Cleverley start as he's looked sharp in pre season and maybe Welbeck if he doesn't start Berbatov.

The goals have been weird. Both very easily preventable. First one was poor marking, Lescott had a free header. De Gea should be blamed for number 2, no way he should be beaten from 30 yards like that. Though I did hear he was beaten 12 times from outside the box last season so I assume that City have been told to shoot from range given the chance. That said it hasn't been a 2-0 game, we were far better in the opening half hour, just couldn't score a goal.

Cleverley on for Carrick at half time. Jones and Evans also on for Rio and Vidic.
