After us and Barcelona both qualified last night, Real Madrid and Schalke should follow us tonight, both having very handsome leads after the first legs (4-0 and 5-2 respectively), I don't see either Spurs or Inter turning it round.

Yeah it certainly is possible, but highly unlikely as you say. The problem for Spurs is I just can't see them keeping Real out for 90 minutes, with the likes of Adebayor, Benzema (possibly), Ronaldo, Mesut Ozil, Kaka etc.

Inter might have a better chance, they are the sort of team who could turn round that deficit.

If Spurs can turn it around then not only will I berid of my signature, I'll place a Monster Raving Looney avatar on! - But it's impossible...but if Fulham can do it against Juventus.

Fulham were only 3-1 down from the first leg, then went 1-0 down and won 4-1 and progressed. Yeah it was a good achievement but not comparable with Spurs perhaps doing it because Juventus are not the team they were and Real are much better than that Juve team, who lets not forget, couldn't get out of the group stage of the Europa League this season. I don't see Spurs turning it round, no chance.

Italian teams are shit, as evidenced by getting trounced by fulham, tottenham, and assorted german teams

Who are also being hammered by a mid table German team. Plus they were extremely lucky to beat Barcelona last year.

I'd put the last golden period for Italian football in about 2003ish, maybe later. Milan had Shevchenko, Seedorf, a young Kaka, Nesta, Maldini. Juve had Nedved, Del Piero, Trezuguet, Camoranesi. Inter had a good team and they achieved.

And also had the worst Champions League final of all time in 2003.

I see Raul is still playing and scoring in the champions league.

That's his 71st champions league goal... incredible.

A very fine striker.

They will be tricky opponents in the semi's, German teams always are. I think back to Dortmund in 97 where we had about 30 chances in both legs all told and lost 2-0 on aggregate, Leverkusen in 02 where we really shot ourselves in the foot, we took the lead in the first leg and sat back a lot and eventually drew 2-2, before drawing 1-1 over there and going out. And of course Bayern Munich in 2001 and 2010.

It isn't all bad though, we knocked Bayern out in 99 :D

Aye, Raul is a superb Striker.

Also today marks the 22nd of the injustice of the 96 Liverpool fans who died in the Hillsborough stadium crush in 1989.

RIP the 96. A terrible tragedy at the time and still is. Looking at a list of the 96 who died, some of them were so young. Rivalries will always be forgotten on a day like this. Hopefully one day the families get answers.
