Petty jealousy of West Ham obviously means more to these twats than national pride.
oh i see he played for a club they dont like and that is more important than what he did for his country, even i have heard of Bobby Mooire and the 1966 final (did not know he played for west ham though)

that is sad

Bent seems to be putting the final nail in the coffin for his World Cup dream! Glen Johnson seriously worries me sometimes, too. Ffs, this is dire!

If Tom Huddlestone is International class I'm black.

Lampard penalty.......

Saved!

Rooney should take them.

Ffs! Can Capello please slap down fat boys massively inflated ego and never let him near a penalty again! I'm going to be having kittens in the World Cup if it goes to a shoot out, without the added heart-attack-ability of watching Lumpy step up to the spot!:willy_nilly:

Two own goals to take the lead, it's still hardly inspiring and we still look crap. Who exactly was Cole trying to cross for anyway?

That miss from Heskey. Jesus.

People go on about how good he is for players like Rooney, but if I were Capello I'd pick Crouch who is a much better player and can actually score goals. Crouch has 18 goals for England and Heskey has 7. Heskey's been playing for England for 6 more years as well.

Goalscorer over goal creator for me, plus it's not like England don't have players who can create goals (Lampard, Gerrard, the Coles, Johnson, Barry etc)

Never got the point of Heskey. All I hear is how good he is providing for others. He's an out and out striker, it's his job to score goals, we've got plenty of midfielders to provide the vital cross.

Well he's seen as a target man.......but two things.

Years ago Mark Hughes was a target man for us, yet he still scored goals. Kevin Campbell was a target man for Everton, yet he scored goals. Niall Quinn was a target man, yet he scored goals. See the problem? Heskey doesn't score goals. In fact Emile Heskey has been palying football in the leagues since 1995. In the 15 or so season's since he's only managed to get into double figures four times (Leicester City in 96/97 and 97/98, Liverpool in 00/01 and Birmingham in 04/05), sure it's not been on his shoulders to score goals all the time (Owen and Fowler had more of that responsibility at Liverpool) but he should still be managing to get into double figures. And it's not like he hasn't had the game time. Last season for example he made 31 appearances for Aston Villa, and only scored 3 goals.

(All of these are League games by the way, include other competitions if you wish, it still won't disguise the fact that Heskey is tosh)

Heskey seems nice enough, but sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

In my opinion Voronin is the worst of the three. At least Heskey did other things apart from not score goals. N'Gog is the best of the three, although that's not saying much.

Glad to see Joe Cole among the action again.

Here's the way I hope the starting line up against USA looks:

James

Johnson Terry Ferdinand Cole

Lennon Gerrard Barry Lampard Cole

Rooney

I don't agree with you often, but that formation is really good and I'm saying that without thinking about Carragher! I can see Gerrard and Lampard going forward to make it 4-3-3 and Barry pushing back for the extra defence.

Like watching paint dry getting this drip drip of info.

Apparently Huddlestone, Bent, A Johnson, Parker, Baines, Walcott and either King or Dawson are the unlucky 7.

Surprised but happy Theo isn't going. Would have preferred Parker to Carrick. King would be a shock if true..guess its todo with his lack of fitness

Benitez is out at Liverpool.
Grant is in at West Ham.

Great decisions by both teams. Although I heard that the person who made the decision at Liverpool was Steven Gerrard, 'sack him or I go to Madrid'

No suprise to see Benitez go. Really poor season last season, especially when you compare it to the season before when they nearly won the League. I think just the players he has there aren't good enough, certainly not at a top club level. Players like Lucas, Babel, Kyriakos, Insua, N'Gog, Voronin. Sure they have Gerrard and Torres there but you need more than that to be consistently good. Like here for example you have Rooney, but you also have players like Nani, Giggs, Scholes, Valencia, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, VDS etc who have been proven at the top level. Chelsea have Drogba, Lampard, Anelka, Malouda, Ballack, Essien, Terry, Cech. Arsenal have Fabregas (for now), Van Persie, Nasri, Vermaelen, Clichy, Walcott. To be a big side in the Premiership you need to have a lot of top players. Which Liverpool don't have.

His defence is he didn't have the money.
250million spent in 6 years says otherwise.

To be fair though, the only first team player you mentioned there is Lucas, who actually isn't bad.

I didn't say he was bad. I said he isn't a top player, which is true. He's at the Birmingham City level if anything.

And yeah he's certainly had the money. I have a full lost somewhere (credit of someone else) of the players Benitez has bought/sold. Won't bore you with is (unless you really are curious) but it is quite staggering, if a tiny bit out of date.
