I'm no Obama fan.

However, having one of our drones shot at in the sandbox is NO real news story.

Hell, if I lived over there and found a drone flying around and I could try to take it down, I would. Could be carrying weapons.

I'm guessing if a unknown drone was flying off the coast of the US in "international waters", we'd bring it down.

The ones you need to worry about are flying around in the U.S. and owned by our own government. Lots of them belonging to various agencies. The Iranians love to thumb their nose at America and will continue to do that as long as there is no response from us.

I agree with you about ours on our own space.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the one advantage to using a drone over hostile ground is no loss of life? I'm guessing we're expecting them to be shot at, particularly since we're involved in a war over there.

Would you prefer we send in 100,000 troops and stay in the country for 10 years to prove a point that they shouldn't shoot our drones? When we finally get out of Iran and Afghanistan, let me know what our point has accomplished there. My only point is that for a piece of metal, taking more lifes is not the smartest option IMO. Now, have the Iranian's take Amercian lives, then perhaps a response is warranted (let us not forget the Gulf of Tonkin incident though where the Amercian people were "Punked" lol)

How far do you think an Iranian drone would make it in international waters off the US?

That would be the drone that was shot down over Iran....to the Iranians, that would be a big deal....the intrusion of their air space.

This issue is one over international water......and as you posted not a big deal as far as relations go...no one died and as you further posted:
I'm guessing if a unknown drone was flying off the coast of the US in "international waters", we'd bring it down.

But....the incident does have the appearance of being kept silent so that Obama needn't make a public response right before an election. Iran essentially forced Obama to remain silent by timing.

TM has proposed that Iran 'punked' Obama by forcing him to ignore the incident for what are likely election day politics........and that is getting 'punked'.

It happens.
Bush got 'punked' by claiming victory in Iraq and boasting, 'bring it on'....... that turned ugly and still not over for the Iraqis.

I was a bit skeptical about your implications at first..... but after reading some of the links of your Google search......and considering what the slang term 'punked' meant
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=punked
by Iran getting away with an attack over international waters and it being kept from the public for what looks like political purposes before an election.......Obama did get royally 'punked'.

Thanks stone,
I was using the word punked rather loosely for creating the thread..Thanks for the link to the definition.

Which does apply here with the following from the link

"allowing to let yourself be walked on to avoid confrontation."

Which applies here for sure...as he had no response to the incident and intentionally didnt address it.

The below definition fits very well for the prior incident where he wanted the drone back that landed in Iran...and they sent him one made by a toy manufacturer.

"When you make fun of someone so bad they have nothing else to say back."

Obama could have used the latest drone incident to his advantage...made it public and addressed it to help gain support in the public eye that Iran can be a problem.

By Obama keeping such incidents hush he is showing a weakness and Iran will continue to walk on him....At least addressing it publicly will help give Iran the impression we are serious IMO.

IMO Obama is a punk...The Libya incident also re enforces that image

Again, The Man shows total lack of understanding of how the media works.

You no longer have to live in a country to access its news media.

If you can't grasp the basics like media coverage, it explains why you are so totally and laughably out of your depth with complex matters like politics. If you can't win an argument with facts, trying to win it with xenophobia isn't going to work either.

I know exactly how it works.
Let me give you an example.
News is released that Obama gets punked just prior to the election.
Major news.
We have people{cough} that say it isnt a story.
So in that regard some do have a misunderstanding of how the media works.

And I just keep adding new slangs to my political dictionary.. :24:

Stone, I never heard of a right wing socialist.. :tooth

In the US, that would be a corporate socialism.....or right wing neo conservatism.
Nader had interesting comments about them and essentially authored the term..... you'd likely be interested in reading them:

It was disclosed..after the election.
Has nothing to do with being classified...then becoming unclassified after the election.
Has everything to do with keeping it quiet...as he got punked out..we had planes shot at in international waters...Obama done nothing.

Too bad you or Rush weren't there to tell him what he should have done. :smiley24:

In other threads, you have claimed your presence was a search for the 'truth'.
But what is your position on expressing the truth?
So.. let's suppose you had knowledge of that incident a week before an election, as an advisor, what would you have suggested to the President?

A few simple questions.. ;)

No matter who would be President, would it not be the military's duty to do a thorough investigation of the incident before reporting back to him ?

I mean, you guys don't have Generals and such just to hang out with women right ? :p

What would you honestly expect as a time line for such an investigation to take place ?

I would expect an incident like that would cross the President's desk in his daily briefings. If not, at least his advisors would be notified of the event in a timely manor.

After the election is always advantageous for the incumbent......:D
