I was watching a show about a guy who was a serial murderer and rapist. He raped prostitutes, and sometimes murdered them. And it got me to thinking about the women crying about her rape on the tv, she is a prostitute right? She has sex with 50 strangers everyday, would it really be that upsetting to forcibly have sex once? He wasn't brutal or anything, just forced sex. Of course, he deserve to be punished just the same, but I'm not sure how much the prostitute was crying out of pain, or just for sympathy. And she wasn't a young either, like one of those old 50 year old ones. It would seem to me that it wouldn't effect her nearly as much as an average women....

I think the thing you need to remember here is rape is nonconsentual sex, it matters not if she does it for a living or not its consentual at that point. Im actully a bit disturbed you view this the way you do.

I agree w/ Audra. Now if she had sex w/ him willingly and cried rape after he didn't pay (don't laugh, it DOES happen, I promise you) then no, that's not rape. But if at any point she said "no" and he forced her to have sex, then she was raped. Regardless of the fact that she sleeps w/ men everyday for money...the difference there is that she sleeps w/ those men WILLINGLY. They may be prostitutes, but they're still human.

I'm not saying that she wasn't raped, or it shouldn't be counted that way. I'm purely wondering if it would be less harmful on her psychologically, since she does sleep with countless strangers everyday.

rape is rape... i don't see the difference because she gets paid for it. What if someone was sexually active but didn't get paid for it and just slept with a lot of people? Is that the same?

Someone that just walks up to strangers on the street and gives them blwojobs, or pulls them into the allyway and does it with them? Probably rare, but I would think the same thing...

Rape seems to be, as least to me, such a horrible crime because your so deeply impaled, so deep into your privacy. But if your privacy is disturbed in such a way 15 times a day for 30 years in a row, would it do as much damage to a 15 year old virgin? Or even a sexually active 30 year old? I don't think it would, because they wouldn't feel that personal cross as much. Not to say that it wouldn't have an effect, just not as great, aka, faster recovery time, less PTST, and that sort of stuff.

the thing with rape is that it has deep fear as part of the feeling...you don't have a deep fear when you consent to sex. Rape is rape no matter if its a prostitute, wife or any other woman...or man for that matter.

I think it is just as psychological damaging for prostitutes. The big deal I have with rape is that someone is using my body without my permission. I'd have no control and be helpless. I think for the most part, when they are on the job, they are in control. Even with a steady SO, if I say no, and we've done it a million times before but I say no this time and he does it anyway- it's rape and it's scary and it hurts inside and out.

So when her trick don't pay up, it's rape? No no no. Hustling a ho is legit.

Swing and a miss. We already discussed that...and the OP says forcible sex.

yeah but in this country if a woman calls rape, who are they gonna believe? they almost always believe the woman...:ninja

Not true. There are some lowlife POS women that have been caught lying...and THEY are the ones that make it harder for the REAL victims to be believed.

In response to the "philosophy" that it's less traumatizing for prostitutes, lemme explain it this way. Do you think a trauma doctor would feel less pain when a loved one dies simply b/c he sees death everyday???

Wow.... just when i thought the world couldn't get any more ignorant than it already is, something comes along to shock the shit outta me.

Just because a woman has sex with 50 strangers every day doesn't mean its easier for her to deal with rape. If one of your friends or someone you knew had sex with 50 strangers a day and they were raped would you treat them the same?

Audra is right Rape is sex that is non consensual. to say its ok for any women to accept it and not allowed to be upset by it is just wrong.
