It was a wrong penalty award, though the referee amazes me. Originally he gave a corner then overturns his decision to agree with his linesman. Rio Ferdinand clearly got the ball, nobody in the ground or on the field saw it as a penalty (not even Hatem ben Arfa) except the linesman. Referee's shouldn't really be agreeing with their decisions over their own, it makes them look weak. That said I'm angry with us for not taking our chances (27 all told) too, but not as much as the incompetent linesman. This is a big test of Arsenal here, 1-0 down to Fulham with 20 minutes to go.

They did say it was a fortunate penalty though, but had it been Man Utd, they would of said it was a deffo penalty

Pretending to discuss football matters will be a nice change from pretending to run a country i suppose.

Beat Aston Villa 1-0 away. Nice controlled performance form us where Villa just looked content to not lose by more. Phil Jones got the only goal with a very attractive finish after some excellent work from the wingers. In many ways it was typical of us lately, in the narrow wins, and while it'd be nice to see us give a team a good rodding, 1-0 wins are appreciated sometimes.

Funny :D

Villa have gone backwards. Even last season they played nice open football. I know they lost Young and Downing but now it's just mundane, they offered very little threat to us even with Bent up front. Though Big 'Eck was fairly negative at Birmingham from memory. I's also like to thank him for bringing Heskey on, I knew we'd won then.

Beat Wolves 4-1. They were a good team to play after the week we've had and so it proved. Nani and Rooney got two each, the first two from each were very well taken. Fast expressive performance with plenty of chances created. Just what we needed. Oh and Jones/Carrick combination drool (1).gif

Beat QPR comfortable at Loftus Road, 2-0. Should have been more but it's a win which is the most important thing. Rooney scored in the first 53 seconds (stat lovers - he is now the only PL player in history to score 3 goals in the first minute) and Carrick added a second in the second half. Missed a host of chances too but the win which takes us top was of paramount importance.
