This is why the decision is wrong

A statement from Liverpool FC

Tuff, Suarez admitted he used the word. His defence was he didn't mean it in a derogatory way. The FA have decided that to use the word in any context is wrong, so Liverpool shouldn't appeal and just try to get this 8 match ban started now so they can have him back quicker (what with the large number of games over Xmas.)

Another quote
PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor added: "I was surprised at the severity of the punishment - bearing in mind the length of time the case took. That suggested there was some doubt about the claims.

And here are other bans
2005: David Prutton (10 matches for pushing referee)
1998: Paolo di Canio (11 matches for pushing referee)
1988: Paul Davis (9 matches for punching opponent)

In my mind they must of doubted the validity of Evra's claim

Gordon Taylor is a cunt of the highest order, he's a closet gay who always stands beside the players in these matters, so anything he has to say on the matter is to be disregarded. Suarez knew exactly what that word he used meant in the context of Evra's skin colour. He might not be a racist, but he's certainly used a racist gesture. Something which we shouldn't be seeing in any walk of life, never mind football.

Makes me wonder what Terry's punishment will be given he has more evidence against him.

EDIT : Why are you comparing Suarez's ban with bans given to players for different offences. You could have used the example oin Sky Sports news today of a player about 9 years ago being punished for Racisl abuse. he got 8 games with 5 suspended. But he apologised after the incident, something Suarez hasn't done.

The difference with Suarez and the other player is because in Spanish speaking countries it means no offence

It's irrelevant that it might not mean offence in Spanish. He's in England where you can actually go to prison for using racial language such as that. As I say, Suarez knew full well what the word means in English.

I must admit, I don't understand why John Terry is being charged on the Magistrates level when Suarez is just being charged by the FA. Must be some politics involved.

It's because a member of the public brought it to the attention of the Police, who referred it to the CPS. When a public complaint such as that is lodged, it has to be handled differently.

Steamrollered over Fulham at Craven Cottage. 5-0. Welbeck, Nani and Giggs with the first half goals, game over. Rooney scored a wonder goal and generally ran the game, Berbatov scored a nifty goal late on. Wonderful performance, very good win to take us into the Christmas games.

Marc Albrighton also got the 20,000th Premier League goal in Villa's defeat to Arsenal, congratulations to him.

CPS were recently given information/evidence thiis may have persuaded them to act

Wonder what that was

The maximum he can get is a £2000 fine as it's a magistrates court case. It's easy to say just plead guilty and get the fine, but obviously the implications are terrible considering it'd be known he proven to have used racist language. As well as the FA ban which would surely have to be given.

Liverpool won 3-1 against the Toon (Newcastle Utd). Gerrard scored one of them

Good game, nice to see Gerrard back, some of his crosses last night where perfection. Shame they've only got Carroll to get on the end of them.
