Villa were extremely poor, that much is true, but it wasn't totally unexpected. Under Mcleish they've been getting gradually worse. Boring football from a team who last year beat Arsenal, didn't lose against Chelsea, held us, beat Liverpool. From that to this in six months is bad. Liverpool did what they had to do, nothing special but they didn't need to be.

Heskey and Delfounso up front lol.gif

They'll come good, just need some better players to build on that solid base. To be fair, they lost Young, Milner, Downing and Barry in fairly quick succession which decimated the team.

Suarez found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra and given an 8 match ban and £40000 fine. He'll think twice before calling someone a negro then.

Fabulous player but he deserves everything he gets thrown at him.

Maybe they can cut a deal where Carroll serves part of the ban for being a pox against the beautiful game :D

Was he fined by the FA or by a court?

I'm not too sure.

I think the FA charged him, even though it happened in a Premier League (the premier league is a different body to the FA) match, and the independent body that tried him was from the FA (so not that independent really)
Suarez and Liverpool could appeal to an EU court though I think, if I know my sport law.

I'm gonna wait until the appeal comes through, a Liverpool team mate called something similar to his mate, which literally means mate....I think that Evra is just trying to use that as an excuse for a racial slur, sad, typical Man Utd players

Suarez used the word negro, which is a racial slur in England. He's very very lucky not to have been sacked. Had a normal person called someone a negro in a place of work, sacked on the spot. It might very well mean mate in Spanish, but Suarez knew what the racial overtone is, and in a different culture where that word is not acceptable, he's done wrong.

If he knew and tried to hide behind the Spanish colloquial translation , he is a coward

This is why the decision is wrong
No one else on the field of play - including Evra's own Manchester United team-mates and all the match officials - heard the alleged conversation between the two players in a crowded Kop goalmouth.
A statement from Liverpool FC
