I also forgot about Legos. I've stepped on more Legos in my life than I care to remember!! :24:
A cheap cassette tape recorder.
Which was not exactly a toy. And, was actually my little brother's.
But, my little brother got this cheapo cassette tape recorder, and he didn't like it. He was extremely disappointed that he did not get a popular toy that he really wanted. He actually cried. When he started to cry my uncle, who was slightly drunk, happened to be holding the tape recorder, and he recorded the whole episode unbeknownst to my other brother and I at the time who sat there laughing at at my little brother for being such a crybaby. After a while, my father sternly yelled from the other room to my little brother to shut up and to be grateful because there were "kids in China who got nothing on Xmas". Or something lame like that.
As soon as my little brother ran off to finish his crying in his bedroom pillow, my uncle said to us "Hey, wanna hear something?"
That 30-second cassette tape recording of my little brother crying became legendary in our memories of childhood. Pretty sure my little brother got a hold of it and destroyed it later. But, it did not matter, my other brother and I could always make him feel bad just by referring to it and that awesome day when he cried like a little baby and our drunk uncle recorded the whole thing!
I remember getting a Super Nintendo with Donkey Kong one year. That provided hours of entertainment for me and my brother. I also remember being thrilled over a Rainbow Brite stuffed pony. I forget what its name was....
