It's not really a toy, but I used to like those pretend chocolate dispensers, where you put 2p in and a mini chocolate came out :p hours of fun!

My Gilbert 4' oval road race set. It had two, count 'em, two stock cars. I doubt that I have ever been as excited before or since that Christmas morning in 1963 and no other toy ever matched it.

A cheap cassette tape recorder.

Which was not exactly a toy. And, was actually my little brother's.

But, my little brother got this cheapo cassette tape recorder, and he didn't like it. He was extremely disappointed that he did not get a popular toy that he really wanted. He actually cried. When he started to cry my uncle, who was slightly drunk, happened to be holding the tape recorder, and he recorded the whole episode unbeknownst to my other brother and I at the time who sat there laughing at at my little brother for being such a crybaby. After a while, my father sternly yelled from the other room to my little brother to shut up and to be grateful because there were "kids in China who got nothing on Xmas". Or something lame like that.

As soon as my little brother ran off to finish his crying in his bedroom pillow, my uncle said to us "Hey, wanna hear something?"

That 30-second cassette tape recording of my little brother crying became legendary in our memories of childhood. Pretty sure my little brother got a hold of it and destroyed it later. But, it did not matter, my other brother and I could always make him feel bad just by referring to it and that awesome day when he cried like a little baby and our drunk uncle recorded the whole thing!

I remember getting a Super Nintendo with Donkey Kong one year. That provided hours of entertainment for me and my brother. I also remember being thrilled over a Rainbow Brite stuffed pony. I forget what its name was....

Good story. I remember my first cassette recorder too, and waiting and waiting for Bohemiam Rhapsody to come on the radio so I could record it. I still remember the funny "scrreee" at the end of the song when I turned it off, and cutting off the DJ's voice.

My first pushbike, and My Velvet doll with hair that grew!!! Or was it Chrissie?

I was a die hard He-Man fan, had nearly everything in the original 80s toy line and a few from the movie.

A red 10-speed bicycle in 5th grade and a bmx type bicycle in 7th grade that actually had shock absorbers. I rode both those bikes as hard as I could until they wore completely out.

I remember the day my parents bought me Super Nintendo from Toys 'R Us!!! Had to be sometime around 1995 or so. It kept me entertained for hours with games like Pitfall, Lion king, Mario, and yes, Wheel of Fortune! They later also came out with this thing that you could use to play Gameboy games on your Nintendo with some color added in.

I got a three story Barbie house with an "elevator" one year. My favorite toy of all time, I think. I remember my parents fighting in the middle of the night to put it up for me, so I think I knew by age 4 there was no Santa :24:
