All I'm really seeing here is suggestions to take the NHL back to what it was 20-30 years ago... yet that doesn't solve the popularity issues, in fact I think it would make them even worse. The things I do agree on is calling things in the playoffs they way you do in the regular season... but the "let them play" mentality is something you see in all sports for the most part because they don't want heavy handed officiating to determine the result.

There is no respect though anymore without the fighting. Guys get their sticks up and BC twohand behind the knees all the time. It has to stop before somebody literally gets killed

The game never will be like it used to be because these atheletes are so superior to even 30 years ago. You look at a 50 year clip and those teams would not be competitive against some of the current elite junior teams.

The league is too big. It tried to expand to gain a fan base and that has been a failure. All it did was dilute the talent level from what it could be. Plus it destroyed some epic rivalries. Detroit gets to play Montreal and Toronto only a couple times a year. So in an effort to gain fans in the southwest where nobody cares about hockey. Sorry Retro but you are probably a minority down there. They have killed the fan base and rivalries where hockey was very popular. In Detroit back in the 60's it was impossible to get a ticket and the team was not that good. Only when it really went in the tank in the mid 70's could you get a ticket and by then the league had already over expanded.

You're of course right Allen.. Who cares about Hockey in a NASCAR towns like Memphis or Nashville..

Places like Columbus or Phoenix don't care about Hockey.

Los Angeles is over saturated with two teams, the Kings and the Ducks while LA doesn't even have a Football team ( NFL ) to call it's own.. And from what I understand from my friends in the San Jose area say the Tank is often empty but I guess removing 2 teams from California would never happen..

Cities that should be tested for Hockey from the pool of those being suggested.. Seattle, Indianapolis, Winnipeg and potentially Quebec again..

As they teams already exist there is no reason to shut them down now..

More inter league play should be adopted to revive rivalries that used to exist.. I think doubling inter division games and dropping some other league games to make way for these would be a good idea..

I would love to see a team back in Winnipeg as well as Quebec City. There is absolutely no way this will happen as long as Buttman is in charge. :mad

Buttman is an ID 10 T ... And so is all the owners for keeping him.. They should have cut him loose a long time ago.. :willy_nilly::mad

You guys seem to hate him as much as us baseball fans hate Bud Selig... and how football fans are starting to hate Roger Goodell

I'm not certain that it's possible for any group of fans to hate their commissioner more than we hate Selig.

You must remember.. I'm an ex Expos ( Montreal ) fan.. He moved my baseball team to Washington.. :mad:mad

I still hate Betmann more then Selig although one is trying to act like the other ( buying a team by the league ).. He is a little two faced weasel that's ruined hockey..

I think it's pretty fucking cool that not only do we have to beat Detroit, we have to beat the officials too. Bullshit penalities all over the place... it's like they went from calling nothing to calling everything... on us.

It will even up.

You still only have given up one power play goal

And the refs will even up the penalties usually. Specially with the crowd involved

Gonna come down to who clears out the pucks around the net on defense the best I think because both goalies look sharp.

detroit is absolutely shit on face offs. Which in the past was not the case.

I have only seen one goal in my life like that off the face off. Alex Delvecchio did it back 30 years ago to either tie or win a game with 2 seconds left
