"The best internet browsing experience on the planet"????
Go ahead, quantify that. Prove it isn't the delusional statement of yet another Mac-obsessed fanboy. Perhaps you should qualify it with "unless you use Flash or like to type on a keyboard".
Why would I need another drive or keyboard? Because my desktop stays on my desk top. If I'm travelling, I want that same functionality to travel with me, hence the creation of the laptop. Maybe I want to type up homework between classes, or respond to a work email at the airport. No way I'm doing that efficiently without a keyboard. When I'm done with the homework ot making a presentation for work, maybe I need to save it to a thumbdrive. Not doing that with an Ipad.
I've used as many different machines as there are available and the iPad does the internet better than any I've used. scrolling through pages, reading online newspapers, sending emails, social media etc is all in a different league on the iPad. You'll have to point out where you can get the same experience or one that is even close.
Flash is a bore. Like most internet users, I navigate away from a page the second I see a Flash loader. As for the keyboard, it's a joy to use, no worse than a physical one and in the sense that when you're browsing, most of the time you don't even need a keyboard, it's nice to have a bigger screen at your command.
So then you buy a laptop. Though you can type up homework on an iPad, and you'd be surprised at how easy too.
If you like to use thumb drives then fine, get a laptop. It would be far easier to send the files digitally.
