New: Mirko CROCOP Video Interview : DreamFighters.com

Interviewer: How is your knee?Cro Cop: Well every thing is all right. They didn’t amputate my leg so I guess the operation was a success. (Joking) I’m satisfied with the recovery. Its getting better every day. I’m doing some light work.

Interviewer: You’re doing some weight work/upper body work at the moment? Cro Cop: That’s right. I’m mostly working from my back. I cant use my legs. I plan to start boxing in April.

I was better prepared than your average knee reconstruction patient. I was putting of the operation for quite some time and in the mean time was doing the required exercise for recovery. So my comeback will be ahead of schedule. Six days after my operation I was already doing some exercises. I plan to be using both my hands and legs in sparing and ground work in May.

Interviewer: Where will you make your comeback? There is a great possibility that I will be fighting for the UFC in Cologne, Germany. I don’t know my opponent yet. But I’m very confident that we’ll come to an agreement with the UFC and that I’ll fight for them in June. There are other offers on the table also.

Interviewer: Do you have any idea as to who you’ll face?I’ve heard that I could be facing Randy Couture. That would a great. Then again its not up to me or him but management so we’ll have to wait and see. But I’m sure he’d also be interested in that fight.

Update:

Sources are confirming that Randy Couture is not interested in fighting Mirko Crocop on the UFC 99 card. Mirko Crocop mentioned in a Video interview that he would like to fight Randy Couture, and would be more than Happy to fight Couture. However, Randy confirmed to FightersOnlyMag that he is not interested in this match-up.

Awefully Lame of Couture, I guess he thinks he's too good to fight Cro Cop or something.

As a Randy fan. I agree. Time to quit chasing belts and fight the good match ups. I think this fight favors Randy too.

Well, most of the time I'd say that is a BS call, but at Randy's age, he needs to start thinking passed fighting

It still pisses me off, but at least it wasn't him saying Cro Cop isn't good enough for him. he also says in the interview that he thinks he should get an immediate rematch with Lesnar if he loses to Mir, or he should have to win 1 fight to be #1 Contender again should Lesnar win.

It's why you don't have too many side projects while you're a fighter. There is no "off season" like there is with other sports

yeah, I think Couture is a wee bit delusional about fighting for a title again any time soon, the likelyhood of Dana ever giving him another title shot is pretty slim I think, he'll at least have to win 2-3 fights in a row to get a #1 Contender's spot, which I honestly don't think he has that many fights against top guys left in him, what with long layoffs due to filming movies, Couture is already 45 years old, he aint getting any younger, he should go after big name fights with guys like Cro Cop, Nog, or even Coleman, that would be best for him imo.

I say Nog or CC. But yeah, on the other hand the contradicting argument is, might as well give him another shot cause he has risen to the occasion and been told he's too old to comeback how many times already?

However, I do think this is it for him.

I think he can compete with Mir or Lesnar right now but after the shit he pulled with walking out on his contract and stuff I don't see Dana giving him another shot right away, you know how Dana is, he'd have to win a couple fights before Dana could no longer justify not giving him one, sadly his window where he can still compete at this level is rapidly closing, he'd have to get this fight very soon and I don't think Dana will give it too him, there comes a point when even Randy Couture is too old and I don't think it's far off.

I disagree, Dana can justify selling tickets, and that is why he might do it.

maybe, I'd like to see it, I think he can beat either one of them, but I foresee him giving Cheick Kongo or Gabe Gonzaga the next title shot though, assuming they both win their next fights that is.

That is the way I'd like it to be. GG (if he beats Carwin) and Kongo deserve shots (especially Kongo cause he has never been given one)

Time for some of these top old timers to work it out amongst themselves. Randy vs Nog or CC is a fight any long time fan would love to see

yup, I think Couture should go for the superfights that never happened in their primes, Nog, Cro Cop, and I still want to see the fight With Coleman, preferably at HW, I know Coleman can't win but still it's a fight that should have happened back at like UFC 20, I'd hate for it never to go down.

Yeah, I agree, nostalgia fights are great, I miss them. But I think allot of fighters have too much pride to admit that that is were they are at. Especially Nog and Randy who have both had belts not too long ago. Fuck it, call up Tank and Bas while their at it. They know they wont be champs, but they deserve a better stage to fight on then what they have been fighting on.

And yeah, some cross over pride and UFC fights that never happened too
