since when does choice of an occupation make you a hero? I disagree with how easily the term hero is thrown out lately. I actually was going to start a thread in the debate section a few months ago about this very topic. What is your definition of a hero?

I think they are. Along with teachers, youth directors, policemen, airplane pilots, clergy, stockbrokers , attentive parents, doctors, vets, cancer researchers, Peace Corps volunteers, Salvation Army workers, the US Military, National Guardsmen, neonatal ICU nurses...

you get the picture.

My idea of a hero is a normal person who does normal things every day with a clear sense of decency and fair play.

Its no secret that various American Organizations have helped and or funded terrorist organizations in other countries, thats a well documented fact.

Well thats the thing, we have directly supported them. The CIA gave $3 billion to Bin Laden and his organizations to fight the Russians in the 1980's. We funded and trained a WELL KNOWN terrorist group.

Also, in 1982 we gave billions to Saddam for weapons to kill Iranians, which also included the indiscriminate killing of civilians. In 1983, we gave the Iranians weapons to kill Iraqis!


Those are just some of a few major events.

You're also forgetting that before September 11th, we gave a good number of weapons to...Iran was it? And even after they captured Saddam or something, the people STILL had the rusted, beat up guns. And before WWII, we gave supplies to Japan to help in the war. What happened? They bombed us.

And on the subject of this thread, why should we ban a person from Iran from seeing the site of the World Trade Center? Unless he's a terrorist, I see no reason of stopping him, other than pure racism/prejudice.

They run into burning buildings to save peoples lives, while everybody else is running out. They risk their lives every day to save us. What exactly do you do? I consider them heroes, because they are. They CHOOSE to risk their lives in order to save us.

And? It may be wrong, but what exactly could he do to the site of the World Trade Centers? Kick some rubble around? I'm not trying to sound rude, but it just seems kind of weird to just say, "Hey...you can't go there, because you support this or that". Now, sure, if there were some new towers, sure, ban him. But it's nothing...empty space as of right now. It's not like he's gonna blow up anything...there's nothing there. He is a human, maybe, just maybe, he could be feeling some sort of remorse for what happened to our country.

He'd use it as a PR opportunity. Hell, he'd probably say he laid the wreath to honor the 19 hijackers.

This man funds terrorists, and sends them weapons to KILL Americans. We shouldn't let him do what he wants in our country. He's here to give a speech at the UN, that's all he should be allowed to do.
