The statement that I bolded bothers me. Respect should never be earned by fear. The DI did not hit the recruits with tent poles for respect, I am almost 100% positive it was because they were being dumb ass recruits. Fear is not a good motivator for respect, IMHO.

I highlight it the same way, in my life. I know that (if you havent read my other posts), any type of violence, especially when used as a tool to teach, is just absurd. To me, at that time, when I was in highschool, I didnt know much about anything. The fear was given at that time, and being that I was young, I followed and learned. But then I learned better, with life experience.
Hope I wasnt coming across as an advocate for terrible teachings, lol

Nah, I just hate seeing that statement. Makes me cringe when I think of the parents that do this to their kids.

Sad how some complain that military experience isn't respected and then turn around and insult an entire branch by calling them a "farce". :(

LOL!!

It's tough to explain. :D

We all agree that there is one branch of the military that is far superior the the rest, and we all share a mutual respect and love for our sister services. The only dispute comes in when somebody tries to pinpoint exactly which specialty is best

Most branches simply divert to whichever specialty they signed up for must be the best. This would be sound logic indeed if everybody did their homework before joining.

I prefer to use the scientific method to decide which branch is best overall. I score on highest average ASVAB scores, highest enemy casualty rate, most commonly requested branch for support by other services, and world wide emergency response times.

The scores are as follows:

1. Highest average ASVAB scores - Air Force
2. Highest enemy casualty rates - Air Force
3. Most commonly requested branch for support by other services - Air Force
4. Fastest world wide projection of power - Air Force

According to my matrix it is a difficult decision, and all branches made a fantastic showing, but the U.S. Air Force does in the end just squeak by with the win.

Hopefully this clears some things up for you non-military types out there. :)

Well, you see, it's what we call an interservice rivalry. It's been around forever, and if we're lucky it always will be. Because it means that our men and women in uniform take pride in what they do, and that's one of the things that makes us the best in the world. There's no lack of respect for any branch.

Intruder, we may have just found the first thing we disagree on. Allow me to break it down for you, Mastercard card commercial style :)

13 weeks of the most demanding bootcamp in America: Free of charge
Brand new set of shiny Marine Dress Blues: $500
Eagle, Globe, and Anchor: $7

Getting to wear above mentioned Dress Blues: Priceless.

Mastercard and Visa are everywhere you want to be. The Marines are everywhere you don't want to be.

:D

And by the way, after the Air Force hits the enemy, they run away at the speed of sound. Real manly

I beg to differ with both you bitches....because when we are about to bomb a country and this is fact the first thing said is where is my closest carrier....not where is my closest grunt or chair force plane....the carrier goes in launches its aircraft and we bomb the hell out of them clearing a path for the marines then army to clear up and while you guys are balls deep in 1000 degree the chair force finally makes their appearance

I'm just glad y'all are all out there protecting ME. :clap

It's all about ME, baby. Protect ME. Keep MY interests safe. I want MY gas cheap. I want MY borders safe. Watch over MY women (yes, that's plural ;)) and children.

I WANT YOU ON THAT WALL, I NEED YOU ON THAT WALL!!!!

The only difference is, when I sleep under that blanket, I do not question the manner in which that very blanket is provided. I'm on a need-to-know basis, and guess what? I don't need to know. I'm grateful and thankful. ;)

Black Ops and badass DI's FTW!!

Well, the ME parts were not meant to be for groundpounder specifically, but the American public as a whole. :D

The wall part and me not questioning the manner in which our safety is provided? That's all GP. ;)

pre-emptive rep given to you, my brotha. Thank you for your service. :clap
