He's a good player but he was poor tonight, mind you he has been poor lately. But saying he's total bollocks is extreme.

typical alex ferguson in the post match interview, when asked about the sending off......'typical germans'.....really came out of that with alot of dignity....now for the next job of derailing englands world cup hopes by playing an already injured wayne rooney

I do think the FA should pay players wages while they are on international duty. Until they do, they don't have a leg to stand on.

He is also "contracted" as a professional footballer to be available for England when he is fit. A team that has the support of millions in the country without having won a trophy in nearly 50 years. Wonder how many millions would still be supporting United in such a situation :24:

Absolutely agreed

Blackburn Rovers 0-0 Manchester United

Pretty much a Title write off result, a must win game ends in a draw, and the lack of quality really meant it was always going to end 0-0. Berbatov had a few good chances which he should have taken, Valencia had a wonderful chance late in the first half. It's Chelsea's to lose now really, we won't wijn it.

its the pinnicle of a players career to play at the world cup......would you be happy to see rooney denied that opportunity?

enfland players do get paid while on international duty but its an unwritten rule that they give all proceeds to charity

i don't deny Rooney would love to play at the WC, course he would, as would any player. But Club comes first and foremost because we employ him to play for us. Always has been, always will be regardless of what people think.

but then theres the 'duty of care' thing.....playing a player while injured is irresponsible to club, country and player....it just aggrevates the injury and puts the player out for longer

Right let me explain this to you once again.

Wayne Rooney wanted to play against Bayern Munich, he was pestering Fergie all week to play, he played in a practise match to prove his fitness, and trained to prove it. So then Fergie (who again probably didn't want to play him, or at the very least put him on the bench) played him because Rooney had convinced him. He then took a fitness test to prove he was fit enough to play.

The reason for this was because Rooney wants to play every single game, he is a great player to have because of his desire to play. A good example, a few years ago he gets subbed in an England game and he throws his boots off and tells Beckham to fuck off. Now a few ill-informed journo's had a go at him for his temper. That's desire, not temper.

i'm not knocking rooney for his desire...i'm knocking ferguson for his lack of forsight in playing him

i take it that if england do have a good tournament you wont be watching seeing as you hate the national team?

It won't happen, quarter finals again. Spain or Brazil will win it. Because they have great teams, England have 11 players, not a team, too many ego's there and players playing off reputation.

Manchester City 0-1 Manchester United

A late win, a very late win, but a deserved win. First half was our half, bossed the midfield and coped well with the threat of Bellamy and Tevez. Second half was a similar tale with more clear cut chances. Just as it looked as if the Title race was over, Paul Scholes leapt and headed us into the lead in the 92nd minute.

That'd work only 3 minutes was a fair time to be added on, plus we scored in the 92nd minute. Nice try though.

They play us next :willy_nilly:

Seriously, will be a really good game, they'll come and attack. What I would say is they won't be given as much space as they got today, Chelsea were all over the place. Terry looked slow and awful, every forward who isn't English will be creaming themselves at the prospect of facing him and Ferdinand, which is why Michael Dawson should play.

Glad to see city lose.

Glad to see Chelsea lose.

So, I guess, in a way, I'm happy to see United win. Scholes was excellent today. I'd love to see a Lampard\Scholes England midfield. We'd actually be a decent team with the ball at our feet then. lol
