Is Global Warming Real?

My home has gotten greener as the years have gone by, we take the effort to take our glass, paper and plastic to a recycle center (because my community STILL does not have a recycle pick-up).

We are big believers in Seventh Generation and Method products, particularly the laundry and dishwashing detergents, as well as the chlorine free paper products.

We continue to search for household products that are easier on the eco system we live in, up to and including natural pest prevention methods such as coffee grounds for treating ant mounds.

It's a lifestyle, not a political debate/issue. :)

Even if you didn't think it was an issue (global warming/atmospheric depletion) why wouldn't you want to do something to stop the poisioning of our waterways, and polluting the fish w eat??

Perhaps re-building the layers of the atmosphere that keep us from disintegrating, and cleaning up the air we breathe?

Why wouldn't you?

Call your city and ask why they don't have recycling pick-up yet. Maybe they just think no one will participate and no one is interested in having a program. If you show them that you want it and you would do it, I'm sure they would at least try to start one.

It's already been requested, basically my little town was annexed by a large city, for revenue of course and to increase tax base.

They are working on getting our neck of the woods a recycly pick up, but it's a huge task when you are talking about the numbers I am talking about. (see population of Houston).

It's in the works though.

:homo:

We should all be better stewards of our environment.

I think we are having global changes.

AND

I think AL Gore is a snake oil salesman and a hypocrite.

He states a lot of facts that are not REALLY facts. He twist and bends the truth to sensationalize.
And while MR. LOOK AT ME BE GREEN was giving his speeches all over, he had numerous limos running in the parking lot. And when his home electric bill is in the thousands each month he has no right to ask me to conserve. We live check to check, its easy to conserve when you can't afford to buy anything!

touche

Yeah nothing wrong with talking it if you're walking it. I did some work for Mr Gore 2 weeks ago but he didn't come around, I had hoped to meet him. I'm not a fan of his, but I like to meet the famous ones and see how they really are just talking man to man.

Can we for once not include politics in conservation? Seriously does it matter if someone is getting money from raising awareness? At least he did something! Al gore was one of the first people to at least pretend to care about the earth. Anyways, politics don't change the fact that the extinction of the polar bears, closely followed by all inhabits of the polar ice caps, and then by us; if we don't change something now.Bringing politics into this is just another way to avoid actually changing our life habits. Ex. How could global warming be real if Al Gore said it is? Well, if it's not real I guess my shower can still be 20 minutes long and I don't have to sort my trash into recycling....

Just away to validate to ourselves that we have placed no harm or impact upon the earth.

I am all for clean air. I do my part to conserve

But I am sick of the US being the bad guy. Our air is cleaner than it has been in years. Gore and his minions have targeted the US when parts of Europe and China are 100 times worse than our condition. So while I am for making changes I sure as hell don't want us to suffer while these other places continue on with their ways.

If we are totally to blame then how is it the fucking hole in the Ozone is not right above Beijing ??? Or La ?

Shit 30 years ago we were headed for an ice age. So which geniuses are we supposed to believe.

Europe does try harder the us though! They have to they can't afford not to be green, not to be effecient! And the only reason why china is so bad is because they make so many things for us, and then have to ship them across the world.

Where are you getting this from may I ask?

The whole subject of who is the "worst" is up in the air, because no body is sure whether to count:
Carbon emissions
Energy usage
Power plant statistics... or a complex almogmy of all and other factors.

However, the USA, UK, China & Australia are all up there no matter which way you look at it.

But, only one of them is still (according to the GDP and average income) a third world country.

US air and water quality is far superior than 30 years ago.

Have you not paid attention to how bad Beijing is?? Was one of the major stories leading up to the Olympics.

As to Europe to old block of the eastern countries such as East Germany were pathetically filthy in the 80's

I took a leap of faith they are little different today as they are not wealthy countries.

I stand behind the view we are leading the way on cleaning up the environment.

Maybe I am wrong but I doubt it.

I think you are. Europe and china have both had further advances in the green sensation. Smaller cars, less waste, etc. As I said china has a lot more people there for one thing, so for how many people they have it isn't so bad (Although it is bad that they are over-populated in the first place) and second off most of it is because of our wasteful productions over there.

And the reason why Europe isn't worse is because they have been around a hell of a lot longer then we have. How clean they've kept it for all these years is very good. They are far more green in Europe then they are here. They walk every where, only shower enough to get by, use far less packaging, sometimes none at all, reuse (First reusable diapers and shopping bags over there), reduce, and recycling. I'm sorry being green is like top on both there priority lists...

Their factories in china are shit they are constantly going and creating tons of carbon and other poor air quality contaminants. But, those factories are actually OUR factories, we own them, we built them, we control them, and they run them to receive 2% of the profits while we selfishly take the rest. That's why America is the worst at going green.
