BTW--who wants to bet that Minor drives around in an SUV? ;)

Why would you assume that I would not be thrilled to be driving a hybrid?

Well unfortunately you're right, we have a Nissan Murano, but I tried really hard to talk my wife into a Prius. :( But she has a bad back and likes getting into a taller vehicle plus we have a grand kid we have to load into the back (car seat), bending over is not good. I'm pretty confident that the new batch of hybrids or even electric vehicles will offer more tall options.

Because I've yet to see one global warming supporting liberal actually doing something personally to address the issue.

I just feel I have to call you on your political afflictions again, do you have to be a liberal to "support" global warming?

I'm not sure liberalism or conservitism has any place in this thread.

...If it would less offensive to you, I'll say a group of people who put business interests above all else have been saying "prove it" since the concept of Global Warming has been recognized...
it is neither less or more offensive.
I'm not offended by your partisan politics, I'm disdainful of it. While that difference - offense and disdain - may be imperceptible to a layman eye, it's a huge difference. Clearly, you (and Mulder for that matter) don't see it and that is not surprising.

Is buying a car the only thing one can do? This is a cheap shot without basis.
It would be one thing, and great things start with one thing. Put your money where your mouth is. If you drive a gas guzzling SUV and you come in here a rail about global warming, well....:wtf::gives:

cheap shot my ass. That one is a bullseye right between the eyes ;)

No--I've proved the opposite--even though most of my politics tends to be right leaning, I don't buy into the typical propoganda of either side. I figure a reasonable approach is simply to do what I can to reduce pollution and dependence on oil--even if it has no effect on global warming, it is a positive effect nonetheless.

Perhaps the best retort I have witnessed from you, very valid point and well put.:clap

As they say talk is cheap--action speaks louder than words.

You prove that every day.

Toyota makes a Hybrid (Highlander) that's just as tall as that Murano--other car makers also make them. Electric vehicles will not be offering anything large for a long time to come--the power they are able to generate simply cannot propel anything heavy--all-electric cars are pratical only for very small, light vehicles.

At the time we bought our 07 Murano, our dealer had no hybrids available (because I asked) and I was not aware of a Highlander hybrid although I don't like it's body style. You have fun driving your Hummer.

Are you REALLY worried about global warming? Because if you are, you've done nothing (apparently) to address the problem yourself.

There you go assuming again. Actually we have raised our temps in Summer, lowered temps in Winter, have switched over our lights to florescent, and recycle our grass clippings, glass, aluminum, and paper. And if you think I'm happy about the relatively poor gas milage of my car, you are wrong. I see no reason not to drive a hybrid, however marriage is a compromise and I don't always get my way.

My intent of starting this thread was not to put individual readers on the spot about what they have or have not done, but just to raise awareness. But I would like to know how you feel about global warming, problem or no?
