It all depends on the age group. My last husband was many years older than me and Chivalry was by far not dead! The guys I know that are my age it's dead and buried!

In Mississippi, absolutely not! I never had a door dropped on me.

Up here, people drop doors on me all the freakin' time! Occasionally someone will hold one open, and it just makes my day! And I see the look of surprise on people's faces if I hang back and keep the door open behind me for them. It's such a difference. I can't stand it, honestly.

And it's not even chivalry so much as just being polite.

Its so hard just to be nice now adays to woman. The reason I bring this up is cause I just went to get gas and saw a young lady putting air in her tires. she looked like she was having trouble so I offered to help her. she responded like this

"You just want to help so you can try to get into my pants"

I was really shocked at her response and just said "You know what, never mind" and walked away

or the day(years ago) I followed this girl cause she was leaking coolant on the ground. after a while i finally pulled up next to her and went to tell her and she freaked out on me accusing me of hitting on her before i can even say it. then she drove away. I followed her for a little and her engine over heated and she was stuck. pulled up next to her(she was crying) and said "I was just going to tell you, you were leaking coolant" and drove away.

If some of you woman keep on thinking all guys are the same, enjoy being single and bitter

Shame on both of them for being bitchy!

I have no problem accepting help from a man, even one I don't know. I won't be stupid about it, but I certainly won't be a bitch and turn down free help!

Chivalry may be dead, but civility should be alive and well. I hold doors for both men and women when they are following me through a door in a public place.

Around here it's usually everyone person for them selves..

I still hold doors, say excuse me when I pass someone in an isle and they are looking at something and I am blocking them. When someone sneezes I say bless you.. But half of the time I get funny looks or people completely ignore me..

So when some holds a door open for me I always say thanks or smile. I usually have my arms full, Liam in one and bags or something in the other.

I miss manners!

From what I've seen the South (U.S.) has better manners than the North. It's a broad generalization, I'm sure there are exceptions, but in Minnesota at the mall, it is not unusual for people to let the door close in your face and "excuse me", "please and thank you"- forget about it. ;)

I honestly thought it was until I met Stickboy he always opens the door for me when we reach the car or a store or home! When I first met him it actually made me quite uncomfortable and I asked him to stop it cause I was not used to it, his reply was "Well you are going to just have to get over that aint you like I am going to have to get over the fact that you insisted on buying dinner for me" .. And still now when he does it I smile its cute!! :)

Last winter, my daughter and I were out and suddenly it started to snow so hard. My windshield was pratically impossible to see out of. and of course, when I tried my windshield washer, I was out. We pulled into a gas station and got out of the truck to get the washer out of the back when this man stopped me and asked me if there was anything he could do to help....he opened the hood and put the windshiled washer in for me. He was so nice, he even stayed there and waited for us to pull away before getting into his own car and leaving.....dont' tell me that chilvary is dead, cause I dont' believe it. I once watched a movie where a gentleman took off his jacket and placed it over a puddle so his lady friend could walk over it without getting wet.....when I find a man who'll do that for me I'll know I've met my soul mate. Where the heck IS that guy?...lol

here, here!

and get up for women and elderly on the bus, pick up something someone dropped while they've got an armload of other things, offer to help someone load or unload a vehicle....
