On the Democrat side I like James Carville.

But I am an Independent, as aforementioned. I am a card carrying member of the John Birch Society.

I just read up on that society

we may be disagreeing a lot in the future. :p

LOL I have no problem with intellectual wrestling. Frankly I am void of any real political affiliation that I totally side with, I pull from all of them to make decisions. I basically fly no parties flag full mast.

I am on my team...lol

To me what makes this country great is allowing people to follow their collective conscience, and adopt and cultivate belief systems that are important to them.

I respect you for firmly standing by what you believe, regardless of what I, or any other person here thinks.

That's America my friend.

awww you're too nice to argue with. : ^ (

lol I hate to get balmy, it's just that I have always thought that we as a nation could learn so much more if our minds opened when your ears did.

If we all took the time to sit down and discuss our needs as a nation I think we would all agree that we want the same things, we have just been misled by a government that wants us to fight in the street so they can sneak into our homes and steal our furniture, if you are into the whole metaphor thing.

Are you under the impression that the media makes money by sharing all the good news in the world with us?

"No news is good news" has been around for a long time.
Well, seeing as how in the past couple of weeks even CNN and MSNBC have been reporting positive stories coming from Iraq (if you can call it that), both ion their websites and TV shows, I don't think anything is being suppressed.

Sure, they talk about less killings and less violence in Iraq today, but they never really tell you the whole story... Why is there less violence? Is it because of the surge? Not really. If you really want to know the answer, you have to look at Iraq today and compare it to what Iraq looked like last year. Today most of Iraq is segregated into neighborhoods of Sunni and Shiite. Millions have been displaced or forcibly removed from their homes creating entire neighborhoods of one group or another. Walls have been built segregating these groups even further. Neighborhoods that were once mixed are now one group or the other. Most of the violence last year was contributed to this ethnic cleansing. Now that most of the moving around is done, the violence is dieing down. As these neighborhoods settle in, there is less chaos and they can more readily identify outsiders (Al Qaeda wanna-bees) and oust them. These are the reports you hear of Iraqis fighting Al Qaeda in their own towns. This was the natural progression that would have occurred with or without the surge.

You have to look at the whole picture before you say things are getting better... because things aren't always what they seem...
What progress have they made politically? Almost zero... and that's not good. They are a sharply divided country with no real stability, just pockets of stability... So what now? Draw new lines in the sand and divide the country up into 3 equal parts and have them relocate once again? If this were to happen, you would see another wave of ethnic killings. The place would fall apart until they settled once again into a new area.

Is there no hope for these people then? Damned if you do...damed if you don't?

So many years of suffrage both by power hungry dictatorial tyrants plus in-fighting. Is there no end to this madness?
