That money went somewhere.
Unfortunately that is true. I think the free market is a great thing but I believe the money amounts are insane in athletics.

To me that is just a matter of greed. I donate 10% of my net income to charity every year. I would do the same if I was making millions.i understand that they are paid relative to how much money the industry makes, but i just cant justify in my head for a baseball player to make $23 million a year when theres starving kids all over the world
its not right at all...call me a communist i dont give a fuck, people need to open their eyes
That was all I expressed was my opinion. I do believe there is only one Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan and more power to them that they can turn the money and help more than just themselves. Then I look at someone like Michael Vick and see a waste.
Understood, but I believe most athletes or just wealthy people in general do donate to charity and such. Some of them may do it for no other reason for taxes, but I do believe most of them donate.
Key word in that statement is "their" money.I don't know what they do with it. Some athletes have done great things with their money.

All of that just proves their marketability.go turn on that show MTV cribs, look at all of the things they have wasted money on
golden ceilings and diamond encrusted cars
its ridiculous...no, not every celebrity/athlete does it but ALOT of them do
they will have 10 different $100,000 cars
america doesnt appreciate the working man, they appreciate celebrities...they will watch people with famous last name on TV doing nothing for hours, and talk down on people who work menial labor jobs
celebrities are only humans, some of them did nothing to get where they are, and many blow there money on absolutely nothing
and people still idolize them

While in a way I agree with you, I see your statement becoming argumentative instead of objective, if this debate makes the turn I think will after this I am out.Yes, but at least they spend their money and give back to that economy rather than hording it. Why do you care if they make that much money? They've worked for where they are. If you wanted that money you should have went into acting/sports/etc. to achieve that power. Or you can work hard and climb the corporate lader and make millions in investing. Instead of hating the people who have money, try getting that money for yourself and see what you do with it.

most of them didnt truly earn that money...i can tell you of backbreaking jobs that pay $10 an hour, and you are telling me an actor, no matter how good (or good looking) is truly worth $10 million for a movie?
if you honestly believe that then your mind is warped

How about athletes that play in the NFL? Some of them have problems for their entire life because of injuries.
If that movie earns 75+ million, then yes companies are willing to spend it. It's a matter of what you're good at. People who are good at one thing will get paid better than being good at another thing. If everyone was paid the same, we'd all be socialists and motivation to better oneself will be minimal. People get paid by those who feel they are worth that much. If they didn't, then they wouldn't be paid that much. Generally speaking, those who earn that much money are generating even more revenue for those who are cutting that paycheck.
