For the record, I would like to state that if you hadn't mention Aspergers and/or if I had not seen it mentioned before with regard to Peter I would have been none the wiser. For I don't see Peter's contributions any much different to how many others express themselves. And I would venture to say some others have expressed themselves far worse including blatant personal attacks where he had not. So this so called "Aspergers" thing is of little or no regard to me for judging his behavior. Frankly speaking I'm sick and fed up of it being used as a label on him. Then, if it is, what is to be said of those that behave in a blatantly offensive manner?
I have followed the situation very closely and from what I saw Peter didn't say anything that was abusive. Sensitive yes, maybe to some, but yet nothing that was not offered before by others with regard the war and not shared by a good many. Additionally he did not throw a personal attack on another poster. On the contrary, the first personal attack came from the other poster...and even then he had not reacted in kind. From what I gather, they both were warned and infracted behind the scenes. The other poster had edited, and quite rightly so, the offending personal attack. The mods had deliberated and acted fairly IMO.
What is unfortunate is, and I am going to be brutally frank here, is a Super Mod having had the benefit of private deliberations and consensus would follow up with a series of very harsh comments in a thread inclusive of obscene language directed to the other poster and also taking jabs at the other moderators. That IMO was uncalled for and totally inappropriate behavior for one of authority and in no way ought to be condoned. Perhaps he didn't care a damn at the point of writing but nevertheless these kind of things are not acceptable and we need to learn from our mistakes or face the consequences to be reminded from time to time. C'est la vie.
I wasn't going to mention Aspergers myself, as that is up to the individual who has that or any other med condition at that, to mention it, it is not up to others. However, crusty brought it up as Peter using it as an excuse, so I needed to clear it up and say how it is, as opposed to how that person perceived it - to put it into perspective because it isn't used as an excuse, just to clarify and he doesn't mention it that much.
No, I agree, he didn't say anything offensive from our point of view, he was actually meaning bush when saying America and that's how we refer to it over here, the way he said it, so it isn't him being insensitive at all as has been suggested, it is just the way we say things here. it's just different for each country, different ways that's all.
Anyway, I hope this all stops now and I think it is calming down finally - it's worn me out let alone the others.
